Brief Report: Six umpires attended the match and we thank them for their great work in very warm
conditions. However, as in past years, this fixture was played in good spirit. Each boy is always keen to win
his match for his School and Association. The Firsts is traditionally a nail-biting affair, and it was no
different yesterday, with GPS prevailing 5-4, despite losing the top 3 singles matches.
Julian Panagopoulos was probably the most valuable player for GPS, while, James Ibrahim played awesome
Tennis for his CAS team.
The Second’s match was well-contested, but the 8-school advantage of GPS often shows up in this
Second’s match.
Scott Gardiner (King’s #4) was possibly the most valuable player for the GPS Second team, while young
Hugo La Hei, despite his tender years, battled very well against his more experienced GPS opponents.
Unfortunately, due to a problem in the Function centre, we were unable to secure a hot lunch this year.
Apologies from Homebush, but we all got a “healthier” lunch pack this year.
At the end of play Jamie Fraser (CAS) and Kevin Shu (GPS) said a few words on behalf of their teams.
Thanks to Colin Reid and his Coaches and Staff for their efforts, and likewise, to the GPS staff.
