CALL TO WORSHIP AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Leader All Leader All Sing a new song to the Lord. Sing to the Lord all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless His name. Proclaim His salvation day by day, Tell His glory among the nations OPENING SONG: Sing To The Lord A New Song (Psalm 96) Sing to the Lord a new song, Sing to the Lord, all the earth Sing to the Lord a new song, Sing to the Lord, all the earth For great is our God Most worthy of praise Let the whole earth sing To the Name above all names PRAYER OF ADORATION SONGS OF PRAISE: Immortal, Invisible Immortal, invisible, God only wise, In light inaccessible hid from our eyes, Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light, Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might; Thy justice like mountains high soaring above Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love. To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small, In all life Thou livest, the true life of all, We blossom and flourish as leaves on a tree, And wither and perish, but naught changeth Thee. Thou reignest in glory, Thou dwellest in light, Thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight, All laud we would render, O help us to see ‘Tis only the splendor of light hideth thee. At The Cross Alas and did my Savior bleed? And did my Sovereign die? Would He devote that sacred head For such a worm as I? Well might the sun in darkness hide And shut His glories in. When Christ the mighty maker died For man the creature’s sin. Was it for crimes that I have done He groaned upon the tree? Amazing pity! Grace unknown! And love beyond degree! But drops of grief can ne’er repay The debt of love I owe: Here Lord, I give myself away, ‘Tis all that I can do. Hallelujah, I’m forgiven. Glory In The Highest Apart from You, there is no god Light of the world, the bright and morning star Your works on high, for all to see The starry hosts declare Your glory And no one else could ever compare To You, Lord All the earth together declares Glory in the highest (3x) To You, Lord HEIDELBERG CATECHISM, QUESTION 1 What is your only comfort in life and in death? That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him. COMMUNION Guidelines: The sacrament of Communion is also called the Lord’s Supper or Eucharist. It is the family meal of Christians. It is for all who are willing to forsake their sin and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation. The invitation to take the bread and drink from the cup is from Jesus Christ alone, not from this church or any minister. As such, to partake in this sacrament there is only one requirement: you must be able to call yourself a Christian. That is all, nothing more. Gluten Free: For those of you wishing to partake in Communion with gluten free bread, it will be available in the small dish as you come forward. Oh to grace how great a debtor, daily I’m constrained to be Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love Here’s my heart, oh take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above Leader All Leader All SONGS OF COMMUNION: Holy Spirit, Light Divine Remember The Cleansing Of His Precious Blood FROM 1 JOHN 3 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. READING OF SCRIPTURE Hebrews 12:18-29 For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest 19 and the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further messages be spoken to them. 20 For they could not endure the order that was given, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.” 21 Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.” 22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, 23 and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits 18 Brannin Pitre Spring Series: Hebrews: Christ Our Treasure Here I raise my Ebenezer; hither by Thy help I’m come And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood OFFERING OF PEACE of the righteous made perfect, 24 and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. 25 See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven. 26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” 27 This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, 29 for our God is a consuming fire. D.A. CARSON It is a kingdom which is to come, yes. But it is also a kingdom which has come. “The kingdom of God is among you” and “within you.” The kingdom of God is in every true Christian. He reigns in the Church when she acknowledges Him truly. The kingdom has come, the kingdom is coming, the kingdom is yet to come. Now we must always bear that in mind. Whenever Christ is enthroned as King, the kingdom of God is come, so that, while we cannot say that He is ruling over all in the world at the present time, He is certainly ruling in that way in the hearts and lives of all His people.
