Calling All 2nd and 3rd Grade Parents (CLUBS 2015-16):
We're excitedly planning Grant Line's Clubs for the 2015-16 school year and would LOVE to
add some to our awesome students' selection. Clubs are offered to all 3rd and 4th grade students at Grant Line. As of now (with fabulous parent and teacher volunteers), we tentatively
plan to offer Lego, Drama, Ski, Dance, Robotics, Soccer, Sign Language, Rock Climbing, Book,
Chess, Science, Cheer, Outdoor Exploration and Art (please note that track and basketball are separate programs run by the New Albany Track Club and the Parks Department). Each club will take place 5 or more times either before school from 7:30-8am or after
school until 3:15pm (with the exception of Ski Club which will take place in the evening). Parents are responsible for their child's transportation. We're presently seeking individuals for the
following roles:
GAME CLUB CO-CHAIR: facilitate 5 meetings wherein students learn and play new and traditional games (LOTS of fun and has been linked to heightened cognitive skills), teach games
and circulate and assist during meetings, materials provided
INTERNATIONAL CLUB CHAIR OR CO-CHAIR: lead 5 meetings involving celebrating holidays from around the world, learning words from new languages, learning about different cultures, making and trying foods from different countries and creating cool crafts to take home
and keep! Materials provided. This would be a GREAT addition to GLE!
CAMPING CLUB CHAIR OR CO-CHAIR: organize a single camping excursion for GLE families, students would need to attend with an adult and provide their own camping materials, similar to ski club in that all are welcome (no registration limit) and nominal fees would be involved
Have another idea for a school club you'd like to facilitate? Please let us know; we'd LOVE to
hear about it! ***Parents of students younger than 3rd grade are also welcome to facilitate a
club.*** Club registration will take begin the Monday after school starts on Aug. 3rd. The continued success of our Clubs Program depends entirely on our many wonderful parent and
teacher volunteers. We coordinate dates around volunteers' work and family schedules. The
commitment would be 5 meetings throughout the school year set at your convenience (before
or after school). Thank you so much to anyone who is willing to lead or help during a club next
year! Questions or ideas? Please contact PTO Club Coordinator,
Jenny Higbie, at [email protected]. Thank you!

Hey Kids! What are you doing this summer?
Every year, Camp Invention reinvents summer fun for an experience that you will never forget. Camp Invention
is a hands-on experience inspired by the Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. This summer the
theme will be Illuminate. You will have the opportunity to design a freestyle racing?kart that can traverse an
ultimate wet obstacle course. Rack up points in daily Hydrochallenges and then spend them?in the Hardware
Shop, where you will find materials that can be used to modify, enhance and upgrade your ride. Let your engineering skills glide you across the finish line to become the next extreme Kartwheel racer. You will get to do all
of this and much, much more. Camp will be held at Floyds Knobs Elementary from June 22-26 from 9:00a.m.
to 3:30p.m. The cost is $220. Register by visiting www.campinvention.org or calling 800.968.4332. Camp will
be directed by Karen Cooke. If questions, you may contact her at [email protected] or 812.542.5505.
