Deadline: Applications must be uploaded to our online entry system by 11:59 p.m. (GMT) on June 4, 2015.
Format: Only digital submissions through our online entry system will be accepted. Prints, books, slides or
transparencies or other such materials will not be reviewed by judges nor returned to applicant.
Eligibility: Applicants must be photographers using Instagram to document and share stories of social impact in
areas of the world which are traditionally uncovered by mainstream media. Images submitted for consideration by the
judges must adhere to Instagram’s community guidelines. Contributors to Getty Images who are not employees are
eligible.
Contact and Communication: Grant judges and/or Getty Images employees may contact applicants for further
communication relating to the grant application.
Intellectual Property: No materials and ideas contained within the application will be used by Getty Images, or grant
judges for any purpose other than the grant review and selection process and for publicity (as outlined below).
Applicants retain the copyrights to any imagery submitted for the judges’ review. Only imagery to which the applicant
holds the copyright may be submitted.
Selection Criteria: The grants will be awarded by independent judges, selected by Getty Images for his or her
expertise and industry experience. Selection will be based on judges’ determination of the applicants’ ability to
execute compelling photography through the use of Instagram, their approach and goals.
Grant Recipient Notification: The winners of the Getty Images Instagram Grant will be notified after the judging
takes place in July. The names of the winning photographers will also be listed at www.gettyimages.com/grants when
they are announced in September.
Publicity: Each grant applicant allows Getty Images the right to use his or her name, likeness and biographical
information, as well as the right to select and use portfolio images in connection with any and all Getty Images and
Instagram promotions and publicity, including the website and exhibitions of the Getty Images Instagram Grant
program.
If an exhibit of the winners’ work is organized, the cost of printing, mounting and/or framing images will be covered.
Getty Images will retain them for the grant program’s archive and/or for possible future exhibitions relating solely to
our grants programs. Getty Images will not sell or distribute the exhibition/archive prints or make additional prints.
Funding: The Getty Images Instagram Grants consist of three grant of $10,000 USD each, awarded to three
photographers.
Taxable Compensation: Grants funding may be subject to various taxes depending on each recipient’s country of
residence and/or citizenship, and location of their grant project work. Getty Images cannot provide advice on tax
matters and encourages all grant recipients to consult with an appropriate tax advisor. US Grant recipients should be
prepared to provide a US Taxpayer Identification Number shortly after their grant is awarded in order that the grant
can be presented to them in a timely manner.
Changes: Getty Images reserves the right to amend rules and submission guidelines for Getty Images and
Instagram Grant program. If any such amendments should occur, they will be posted to www.gettyimages.com/grants
30 days prior to each application deadline date.
