GETTY ANNOUNCES SUMMER HOURS AND SLATE OF EVENTS
Enjoy Friday Flights, Saturdays Off the 405, Garden Concerts for Kids, and a full schedule of
talks, classes, and tours this summer
LOS ANGELES – The Getty is gearing up for summer with extended evening hours and a full
schedule of events.
Starting May 29, the Getty Center will remain open until 9:00 p.m. on Friday evenings—in addition
to Saturday evenings—giving visitors two nights a week to enjoy the galleries, gardens, and views
of the sun setting over the city.
Beginning May 30, the Getty Villa will stay open until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday evenings, creating an
opportunity to linger in the galleries, and enjoy twilight in the gardens.
Both the Getty Center and the Getty Villa will be open on July 4, 2015 until 9:00 p.m.
And parking at both the Getty Center and the Getty Villa is $10 after 5:00 p.m., a $5 discount from
the daytime rate of $15. The longer evening hours on Fridays and Saturdays also create perfect
opportunities to get same-day parking at both the Getty Center and the Getty Villa for one $15 fee,
taking advantage of the “Pay Once, Park Twice” program.

Saturdays Off the 405
Enjoy outdoor music and evening views of the city at
the Getty Center’s signature Saturdays Off the 405,
featuring performances by your soon-to-be favorite
bands, along with DJ sets to open and close the night.
Saturdays Off the 405 kicks off on May 16 at 6:00 p.m.
with Cathedrals, a San Francisco duo that
simultaneously echoes Swedish pop, nineties trip-hop,
and indie dreamwave with deeply soulful R&B-rooted
vocals by Brodie Jenkins and Johnny Hwin’s styled and
intense beats.
On June 20, Shannon and the Clams inject a cocktail
of gritty garage-punk mixed with the weirdness of mid60s psychedelia into the familiar sounds of doo-wop
and rockabilly Americana. It’s a bit like tuning in to
your favorite oldies radio station, only to find it
possessed by a bizarre ghost of the counterculture era.

Mark your calendar—other dates for Saturdays Off the 405 are July 11, July 25, August 22, and
September 19, with performers to be announced.
Friday Flights
Friday Flights brings together a network of Los Angeles-based musicians, visual artists, and creative
thinkers for a vibrant evening of sounds and sights. Each session is hosted by artists whose work
blurs the worlds of music and contemporary art. They bring together a range of creative
collaborators to create an evening that is anything BUT
a conventional concert.
Friday Flights kicks off on May 29 with an evening
hosted by Total Freedom, a DJ, producer, and
infamous party-maker, whose work has often surfaced
in collaborations with contemporary artists like Ryan
Trecartin. He is currently included in the New
Museum’s 2015 Triennial, Surround Audience, a major
exhibition of early-career artists which opened earlier
this year in New York.
Friday Flights on June 26 features experimental art-band
Lucky Dragons; July 24 is hosted by Ducktails, the solo
project of Matt Mondanile, guitarist for indie headliners
Real Estate; and August 28 is hosted by 5 Every Day,
the L.A.-centric culture app created by dance band
YACHT.

Garden Concerts for Kids
Bring a picnic and spread out on the lawn for Garden Concert for Kids, a joyous opportunity to
dance and sing along to music that’s too good just for kids. Jazzy Ash and the Leaping Lizards
kick it off on August 1 and 2, enchanting children and grown-ups with joyful original music inspired
by traditional New Orleans jazz culture. On August 8 and 9, Lisa Loeb channels her wit, wacky
humor, and sparkling creativity into children’s music with creative sing-along fun. On August 15
and 16, Seattle rockers The Not Its take the stage with their signature pink and black tutus and
skinny ties to perform their bouncy pop and punk rock, giving kids their first “rock show”
experience. All Garden Concerts take place 4:00–5:30 p.m.
Family Activities
In addition, the Getty offers summertime events for families at both the Center and the Villa. Join
Saturday Art Adventures for Families at the Getty Center and Art Odysseys for Families at the Getty
Villa. Stop by ArtQuest! at the Villa to learn how herbs and plants were used in antiquity as
seasonings, scents, and medicines. Family Art Stops, Family Drawing Hour, Art Lab and Museum
Game Zone are all up and running during the summer, offering new ways to enjoy art and the
museum as a family.
Talks, Tours, Courses, and More
Tours are offered every day at the Getty Center and the Getty Villa, and talks and courses are
plentiful. Create perfumes popular in 18th-century France,
cook for a feast in Roman Gaul, or create a nature journal
in the Central Garden.

Visiting the Getty Center
The Getty Center is open Tuesday through Friday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday
from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m, with special extended Friday hours until 9:00 pm May 30-August 29. It is closed
Monday and most major holidays, open on July 4. Admission to the Getty Center is always free. Parking
is $15 per car, but reduced to $10 after 5 p.m. on Saturdays and for evening events throughout the
week. No reservation is required for parking or general admission. Reservations are required for event

Visiting the Getty Villa
The Getty Villa is open Wednesday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with special Saturday hours
until 9 p.m. May 30-August 23. It is closed Tuesday and most major holidays, open on July 4. Admission
to the Getty Villa is always free. A ticket is required for admission. Tickets can be ordered in advance, or
on the day of your visit, at www.getty.edu/visit or at (310) 440-7300. Parking is $15 per car. Groups of 15
