. 27 March 2015 Dear Parent, It has been a very busy term with residentials, celebration of work, parents evenings and open morning, culminating in the spectacular performances of ‘Oliver!’ I would like to thank all staff for their continued hard work and commitment. Today we say ‘Goodbye’ to Martin Dunn after 9 years at Greenbank. We thank him for all he has done – we will all miss his calm, good sense and enthusiasm, and know he will make a brilliant Headmaster. Good Luck! The first thing she told us was why all of her books had animals in them. It was because on the news and in the newspaper she sees articles about animals doing incredibly heroic things to save humans. She also spoke to us about how to get really good inspiration and ideas for writing stories. The best way to get an idea for a story is to find an amazing true story and then tweak it to how you would like it. The last thing she did was do a play of her new book Harry and Hope. She had two characters and they read all of the words off a script. Some people got books at the end. They were signed by Sarah Lean. I thought the visit was absolutely amazing. Kieran Stubbins Y5 Dear Mr Chassagne Thank you very much for taking time off from your job and coming to talk to us about renewable energy. We all enjoyed it very much and I found it very interesting. I hope everyone found it interesting because I know I certainly did and I definitely found something out that I didn’t already know. I never knew that energy could be used again and again. I was very interested to hear that cow poo could be used for energy – that must be very smelly! I thought that all the rubbish travelling through different machines and then its turned into electricity is very interesting and very clever too. I want to say another great big thank you to you for taking time off to give us a talk about renewable energy. From Emily Booker Y5 EASTER TRAIL As part of our religious education, we went to St Andrews Church to learn about the story of Easter. The church had been decorated with cloth to look like the different parts of the story. There was the room where Jesus had the last supper, the garden of Gethsemane, and the area where Jesus was crucified. Mr Fraser told the story in each place and he was dressed as someone from those days. I thought it was exciting and I thought it gave you a better idea of the Easter Story. Christian Jeys Y4 THE ECLIPSE Last Friday we watched the eclipse. Year One and Year Two joined with Preschool and Reception. We went outside and we saw an amazing view through the preschool roof. Florence Thorman-Atkins Y1 ECO NEWS Saturday 28 March is WWF’s Earth Hour, where you are encouraged to switch off lights and other energy using appliances for one hour. We have a cartoon character called Captain Wasteless; there is a chart for which class wastes the least in the week. Year Five wasted the least out of the school so for a reward they got a treat. They had some nachos, olives and carrot sticks with a dip choice of salsa and hummus with a drink of orange and mango or banana and strawberry smoothie and a blueberry muffin. Year Five really enjoyed the treat.
