The GRETB National Traineeship programme is an
occupational skills development programme which
combines formal training with GRETB Training
Centre and workplace coaching with an employer.
The range of GRETB traineeships are tailored to the
needs of Irish industry and local businesses. They
are aimed at new labour market entrants and
unemployed persons and offer the participants
occupational relevant training and industry
recognised qualifications.

APPRENTICESHIPS
Apprenticeship is the recognised means by which people are
trained to become craftspeople in Ireland. SOLAS has
statutory responsibility for the management of the
Apprenticeship programme. For counties Galway and
Roscommon, the GRETB have responsibility for
administering the programme. There are currently 27
designated crafts within the Standards Based Apprenticeship
