A Letter From The President
April Fencer’s Letter
Welcome to the long awaited spring! I think we are all happy to see green grass,
flowers in bloom, and no frost in the ground!
Our May meeting will be held in Atlantic City on Friday the 15th at Angelo’s Fairmount Tavern. We have had meetings here in the past, although it has been many years
since we’ve been there. What makes this meeting special is that we are donating a check to
the Community Food Bank of NJ. Even more special, we will be celebrating the retirement
of Joe Sallemi.
After 45 years Joe has retired from the fence business. As many of you know he has
been part of the foundation of the GSAFA since its inception. Not only being a large part of
everything this chapter has done and been, but participating at the National level in the
AFA. He has served on the AFA Board of Governors as well as on the Board of Directors.
He has served on the Education Committee of the AFA and served as the liaison to the
VMA. He has served many terms as Chapter President as well as other Chapter official
positions. He spearheaded past projects such as the Paterson Habitat for Humanity project.
I’m sure I have left out many other duties he has performed at the National and Chapter
levels. All of this while running his own fence company and raising a family.
The Chapter wants to recognize and celebrate Joe at our May meeting. We are holding it on a Friday evening at 7:00. We encourage all to bring their spouses or significant
other to the meeting. As policy we will cover the first 4 people from each company. Any
additional company people are invited at $25 per person. I’d love to see a good turnout for
Joe. Please mark your calendars now and RSVP to Carol Ann Berry with your head count.
