FIELD OFFICE SUPPORT STAFF PROGRAM FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR EMPLOYEES Who is GTM? Global Technology Management (GTM) provides expertise on homeland security and
border operations. GTM was founded in 1994 to help clients to develop and deliver new
products and services for the air transport, border control, and secure identification
markets. Since 2004 GTM staff has directly supported the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) on critical data research initiatives that help secure the nation's
borders. In this regard GTM has assisted in the design and implementation of the United
States Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology (US-VISIT) program. The goal
of this program was to transform immigration and border management through enhancing
the security of United States citizens and visitors while facilitating legitimate travel and
trade. GTM also provides administrative and technical staff to U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services (USCIS) at fourteen of its Application Support Centers in the
northeastern part of the country. Staff at those sites help applicants for Immigration
benefits by taking biometric and other identifying information from them to assure proper
identification as the applicants work their way towards lawful permanent residence and,
eventually, citizenship. In addition, GTM supports the USCIS file imaging/digitization
initiative at the agency’s facility in Kentucky. In addition to its role at DHS, GTM provides consulting services to international
organizations, border control agencies, and systems integrators who are seeking effective
border management solutions. GTM has advised governments on the adoption of modern
technologies to enforce entry requirements and facilitate the movement of legitimate
travelers. GTM emphasizes a systematic and integrated approach that deters abuse
without causing negative effects on border commerce and tourism. GTM experience in this area includes: • Advising countries on the use of state of the art identification card and passport
issuance systems • Working with governments, airlines and other stakeholders to establish advance
passenger information (API) systems to identify travelers of interest •
•
•
Leading government and industry efforts to develop biometric-based automated
border clearance systems Conducting detailed analyses of how governments worldwide have addressed
facilitation and enforcement challenges through the adoption of border
automation Recommending new approaches to border management through the integration of
API, lookout databases, and front line tools such as passport readers and biometric
identification technologies The GTM team has unequaled experience in managing complex, international scale
immigration benefits and control systems. From establishing and operating the world's
largest and most successful legalization program to developing today's web-based
application processes, GTM executives and senior consultants are at the forefront of
efforts to improve how governments address critical migration management missions.
Examples of GTM's in-depth experience in immigration benefits systems includes: • Setting up and operating ad hoc programs to handle mass migration events • Configuring specialized support functions such as call centers and regional
benefits centers • Advising governments on legal and regulatory changes to help manage legal and
illegal immigration challenges • Determining the feasibility of applying new technologies to streamline application
and adjudication processes GTM is based in Colorado with offices in the Washington, DC area. For more
