2015 Field &
Stream Dinner
I would like to sincerely thank everyone for making the inaugural Field & Stream Dinner a huge
success. Thanks to all of your support, we were able to raise $2,700.00. All proceeds will go toward
the Guan-Ho-Ha Conservation scholarship fund.
A very special thank you to the Bauhofer team of Chef Brian and Papa Joe for all of their time and
effort in collecting door prizes and sharing their culinary skills.
Again, I can’t thank everyone enough. We had many wonderful donations including whole deer,
smoked goose, venison meat, rabbit, fowl, hor d’oeuvres and a large variety of fish. We couldn’t
have done this without each and every one of you!
Please keep us in mind as we’ll be collecting donations throughout the year! We hope to offer this
successful dinner again next January.
Bon Appétit, Jim Cook

On Feb 22nd Conservation Council held their 2nd Annual Kids Ice Fishing Derby at Mariaville Lake! There were
about 25 kids attending this event with their parents. It was a bit chilly with the temperature around 20 degrees at the start at 8am.
The cool temperature didn’t stop these kids! The volunteers bored holes through the 24” ice and the kids with their parents and
volunteers prepared the tip-ups. The tip-ups were donated by the Council and were given to the kids. Some kids also used jigging
poles that the Conservations Officers Association loaned out. Dave Pirrone, owner of the Mariaville Lakeside Store, provided
coffee, donuts, pizza, and bait.
Hanna F. of Clifton Park got the event rolling by catching the first fish, a 17” pickerel! Andrew H. of Schenectady was next with a 19
1/2” pickerel! Hanna F. later also caught a 19 1/2” pickerel. Joshua D. of Rotterdam caught two perch, a 12” and a 11”. Mya E. of
Watervliet caught two pickerel, a 17 1/4” and a 15 1/2”. Tommy P. caught two perch, a 9 1/2” and a 9”. Hanna P. of Milton caught
the only large mouth bass, a 13 1/4”. The Conservation officers did the official measurements.
Hanna F. and Andrew H. tied for largest pickerel. Hanna won the
coin toss to be the largest pickerel winner. Gift certificates to
Dick’s Sporting Goods were given to three biggest perch and
pickerel ($40, $30 and $20 each category). A raffle was drawn for
three lucky registered kids, winning various fishing gear.
Congratulations to all the kids, who had an enjoyable morning
ice fishing!
A huge THANK YOU to the volunteers and sponsors!

RANGE Monitoring
The range is being monitored by the new range officers
and they have a great concern about how the target area
is being destroyed. They have taken the time to patch
the back board to see how members shoot. If you can’t
hit your target and you’re hitting wood, you might want to
move forward until you zero your firearm in. Range rules
are posted. - Steve Tozer
