DOBOKA:: NAGAON:: ASSAM www.haacdaboka.org.in In Collaboration with DOBOKA SCIENCE SOCIETY ABOUT HAJI ANFAR ALI COLLEGE Haji Anfar Ali College is the only institution of higher education in the entire Jamunamukh Assembly Segment of Assam which is catering the need of Education in this downtrodden area of Nagaon District. The College was set up in the year 1986 and was brought to Deficit Grant –in –Aid system by the Govt.of Assam in 1998 and was provincialised in 2005. The College was accredited with C++ grade by the NAAC in 2005 The College is having single Arts stream and planning to introduce Commerce Stream shortly. Apart from regular courses, the College has introduced UGC-sponsored Career Oriented Programmes namely Fashion Designing and Communicative English. Besides, Computer for All Mission is being implemented to introduce the students into the world of Information Technology. LOCATION: Haji Anfar Ali College,Doboka is located in a congenial surrounding of Doboka Town Ward No 10 which is only 700 metre away from Main Doboka Town. The College is only 16 KM away from Hojai Railway Station and 145 KM from Guwahati-the Gateway of North East. It is also well connected by NH 36 with Lumding and Nagaon Town. CONCEPT NOTE The UGC-Infonet Digital Library Consortium was formally launched in December, 2003 by Honourable Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, the former President of India soon after providing the Internet connectivity to the universities in the year 2003 under the UGC-Infonet programme. The main objective of the UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium is to provide access to qualitative e-resources including full-text and bibliographic databases to academic institution at a lower rates of subscription. One of the major objectives of this consortium is to provide access to high-quality and scholarly electronic resource to a large number of academic institution including universities and colleges and to bring qualitative change in teaching, learning and research with an aim to meet the ever growing challenges of globalization of higher education. The main purpose of providing the facility of e-resources in the libraries/ campus is to enhance research activities in various disciplines among the staff, teachers and students in the region. The seminar will throw a light focusing the availability of e-resources and scope for using such resources for research institutions of the region. Keeping all benefits of consortium in view, the Central Library of Haji Anfar Ali College, Doboka has decided to organize a National Seminar on UGC INFONET DIGITAL LIBRARY CONSORTIA: A GATEWAY TO HIGHER EDUCATION WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO N E REGION in collaboration with Doboka Science Society in the College premises on 29 & 30 April, 2015. OBJECTIVES OF THE SEMINAR The main objectives of the proposed Seminar are: i. to make the students, research scholars and teachers aware about the facility/availability of high-quality and scholarly electronic resources in academic institution including universities and colleges in N E Region. ii. to bring qualitative change in teaching, learning and research with an aim to meet the ever growing challenges of globalization of higher education and iii. To increase the research productivity of this region both in terms of quality and quantity of publication. SUB-THEMES 1. UGC Infonet Digital Library Consortia: Its Impact in Higher Education 2. CALL FOR PAPERS Papers are invited from scholars, teachers, researchers and students of colleges and universities within the stipulated time. Interested participants are requested the follow the guidelines given below: 1. The abstract should not exceed 300 words. 2. The full length paper should not exceed 2500 words. 3. Both the abstract and the paper should be typed in A4 size paper and in Times New Roman font (size 12) with double-space in MS-Word. 4. Soft copy (preferably CD) of the full-length paper should be submitted one day ahead of the day of the programme. 5. Authors are requested to use latest APA style in Reference. 6. Abstract and full-length paper can be submitted through e-mail. IMPORTANT DATES Last date of submission of a. Abstract: 13 April 2015 b.
