Habitat also has a strict policy regarding criminal convictions. Habitat will use its sole discretion when making decisions about partnering with a family who has a history of criminal activity. Sweat Equity Habitat requires that families put in a certain number of sweat equity hours. Sweat equity demonstrates a family’s willingness to partner with Habitat and is accomplished by volunteering on a Habitat construction project, in the Habitat ReStore or office, or other approved activities. For the NRI program, families will need to put in 8 hours of sweat equity for every $1,000 of cost of your project, with a minimum of 8 hours up to a maximum of 300 hours.
