SPRING 2015 Walking Parties Sponsored by The Physical Fitness Task Force of Healthy Adams County Eight weeks of group walking for novice and experienced walkers of all ages. **A detailed walking map/route will be provided at each walk** Wear good walking shoes and bring a bottle of water! Wednesday Evenings, April 29 to June 17, 2015 Registration is 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. April 29 North Trail/Ag Center – Park at the Ag Center. (across the street from Weis and HACC) Begin at the North Trail head, and enjoy a stroll around Barlow’s knoll and back (~2 miles, paved trail, sidewalk/street, relatively flat) May 6 Brethren Home/Cross Keys Village New Oxford - From the Route 30 entrance, follow signs to park at the Harvey Kline Wellness Center. Enjoy a walk through the Cross Keys Village Community. Celebrate ACES (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) day by bringing along the kids for a family night out! (~ 2 miles, paved road, relatively flat) May 13 (new walk!) May 20 Slyder Farm – Park at the picnic area near the intersection of Business 15 and South Confederate Ave. Enjoy a scenic walk on the trail by the Slyder Farm (~ 2 miles, unpaved trail walking, some paved street walking) Oakside Park Biglerville/SPCA WALK - Park at the Oakside Park Chapter House off route 394 in Biglerville.(PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN STARTING POINT)Walk the Oakside Park Trail. Bring your leashed canine companion to enjoy their newly built “doggie park” inside Oakside Park! (Dogs must be cleaned up after) Help support the SPCA’s renovation efforts with a monetary donation. (~ 2.5 miles, mostly stone/gravel trail, some paved, relatively flat) May 27 Hoffman Homes, Littlestown – From Gettysburg take Route 97 (Baltimore Pike) to Hoffman Home Road on the right (approx. 5 miles). Go 2 miles and turn right on Orphanage Road. Turn left at the entrance marked “Culinary and Educational Services” and follow the road into the main parking lot. Enjoy a scenic walk with light refreshments afterwards. (~2 miles, mostly paved trail walking, some grassy walking, relatively flat) June 3 Strawberry Hill, 1537 Mount Hope Road, Fairfield - Join us for a beautiful walk with nature on the Strawberry Hill hiking trail. (~2 miles, this is unpaved/uneven trail walking, with some steep hills) June 10 Gettysburg College/Peace Light- Park by the Gettysburg College new Fitness Center. Enjoy a walk leading to and around the historic Peace Light and back. (~3 miles, mostly paved sidewalk/road, some gravel path, some hills) June 17 Adams County Winery – Park at the Adams County Winery located at 251 Peach Tree Road in Orrtanna. Walk the beautiful trails by the vineyard, and join us afterwards for healthy refreshments and wine tastings. Wine will also be available for purchase. (must be at least 21 yrs. old and proper ID is required) Special prizes will also be awarded to celebrate our achievements! (~ 2 miles, this is unpaved/uneven trail walking with some steep hills) Dogs on leashes are welcome (must be cleaned up after), and ‘good doggies’ will receive a healthy treat.
