Letter in Support of Yellowstone National Park Project

May 22, 2015
The Honorable Anthony Foxx
Secretary of Transportation
U.S. Department of Transportation
1200 New Jersey Ave, SE
Washington, D.C. 20590
Dear Mr. Secretary:
As Executive Director of America Walks, I am writing in support of the Yellowstone
National Park South Pedestrian Trail project application submitted by Park County that
would fund the extension of an existing and heavily utilized trail system within the County,
creating a comprehensive bike/pedestrian trail system connecting to existing routes. This
proposed project would provide local citizens and national visitors with a safe and physical
activity option for accessing one of our greatest National Parks.
America Walks, is a national nonprofit organization that is leading the way in making
America a great place to walk. We provide a voice for walking and walkable communities
with federal agencies, work to cultivate state and local organizations and campaigns by
providing strategy support, training and technical assistance and serve as the convener of the
national Every Body Walk! Collaborative. Together, America Walks and the Every Body
Walk! Collaborative boast 700 allied organizations that across the nation are working to
increase walking and make America a great place to walk.
America Walks was pleased to see Park County serve as a leader in the charge to make our
national parks walkable and I hope you will consider this proposal favorably. Please feel free
to contact my office if I can provide any additional information.
Sincerely,
Scott Bricker
