“Great camp! Merit badge counselors are college
aged students and they did a terrific job. Our boys
were excited to see a varied selection of merit
badges available to them. The highlight of the
camp is the closing ceremony with the troop skits
and a fireworks show!”
-Troop 44 Van Alstyne, TX
Hale Scout Reservation is a nationally accredited
camp located in the beautiful Winding Stair
Mountains in southeastern Oklahoma. In 2015
we are having our 85th birthday. We are going to
celebrate by continuing to improve our program
and facilities. Over the summer we collected a
lot of great ideas from the leaders at camp and
we are going to act on them. Read on to see
what some of our plans are.

A boy's first summer camp experience is a pivotal time in his Scouting
career. Boys who reach the rank of First Class within their first year as
a Scout are more likely to stay in Scouting and will quickly be on their
way to filling leadership roles in the troop.

WORLD TURTLE DAY - CELEBRATE
LOCALLY - WIN ICE CREAM
Every May 23rd, the world unites to
honor the mighty turtle. It’s an
opportunity to stop and think about

everything that turtles do for us. Of
course, Hale Scout Reservation is a
strong supporter of this idea ever since
we found out about it last week. We are making our preparations to celebrate on May 23rd, 2015. If you’re going to Hale
Scout Reservation, you should be making plans to celebrate at one of your troop meetings prior to camp. Your celebration
does not have to be exactly on the 23rd, just sometime before you get to camp. Post your W orld Turtle Day photos or
videos on the camp’s Facebook page for a chance to win an ice cream party for your troop at camp. Mmmm… ice cream!
