and WCBS Radio Show Host
of Your Healthy & Happy Pet
since 2004 will entertain us with
funny stories from her years as
a Veterinarian, many of which
are found in her book Most of
My Patients Wear Fur. She will
also discuss important considerations for keeping your pet
healthy during the summer months, behavior modification and
ways to prolong your pet’s life. Her black lab lived to the age of
20! There will be time for questions and attendees will receive a
free gift for either their dog or cat. Please register to attend and
remember that this program is for human family members only.
The vendors participating this year will be offering plants,
jewelry, antiques, household bric-a-brac, unique handcrafted
items, collectibles, clothing and more. In the event of inclement weather, the Flea Market will move to the Library Meeting
Rooms. Please inquire with the Library Program and Publicity
Office, there may still be vendor space available. Applications
are available online and at the Reference Desk.

Saturday, May 9th, 10 AM - 12 Noon
You may bring up to three (3) bags or boxes of paper per
household to be shredded. No commercial business documents allowed! Drive your car up to the shredding truck that will
be parked in the circular driveway, then watch the closed-circuit
monitor as your documents are being shredded.

This all-female choral group is a local chapter of the
Sweet Adelines International. They will present an “ABC
Book” of musical terminology enlightened by song. You’ll hear
music from the Broadway stage and familiar jazz standards. If
you enjoy four-part harmony, in the barbershop style, you will
love this show! This program is sponsored by the Friends of
the Library. Free tickets are available at the Circulation Desk.

If you have just learned how to play Mah Jongg or if you
know how to play and want to meet other players, Instructor Cathy Crocetti will help you connect and be available for
questions and tips while you play. This will not be a formal
class, and is not for players with no experience. There is a
$10 fee to participate in this supervised, four-session group
and registration is required. There is a meeting room available every Friday afternoon from 1 :00 - 4:00 PM, for anyone
who would like to meet friends and play Bridge, Scrabble,
Mah Jongg or other board games. There is no fee to use the
tables in the Small Meeting Room on Friday after 1:00 PM.
Bridge for Beginners

Join the Friends of the Library for a delicious three-course
lunch in the Culinary Institute’s Caterina De’ Medici Restorante
featuring Spalla Di Vitello (roasted veal with seasonal vegetables)
as our entree. After lunch we will visit the home of Franklin D.
Roosevelt for a guided tour. The cost of this trip, which includes
transportation, lunch, tour, and all gratuities, is $90 per person.
Current members of the Friends of the Library, may register
by telephone only at 9:00 AM on Friday, May 8th and pay for
their reservation at the Reference Desk by Tuesday, May 12th.
Beginning Saturday, May 9th, if space remains, the trip will be
open to anyone, but reservations with payments must be made
in-person only at the Reference Desk. No refunds unless we
are able to fill your space from a waiting list.

Veterans Affairs (VA) programs,
including MyHealtheVet, VA Caregiver Support services, Disabled
American Veteran (DAV) transportation opportunities, and more from Northport VA Medical Center’s Community Outreach Team. The mobile unit will be parked
in the front circular driveway of the Library. VA staff will assist in
the application process, offer Veterans hypertension screenings
and provide first-time physical exams for new VA enrollees. Preregistration is required. Call the VA Community Relations
