Education and Training numbers are sufficient to meeting demand articulated by employers for Public Health Specialist roles (Consultants, School Nursing and Health Visiting), and were discussed with the PH HEEAG. Green WP1_008 Workforce for diagnostic testing 31 Mar 2015 Jo Lenaghan Planning for the future supply of these groups forms part of our wider workforce planning process for relevant professions. However a number of these roles are 'post graduate' and therefore development of these staff is primarily an employer responsibility. LETBs are working locally with employers to understand barriers to this development and in some cases are providing financial support (as indicated in Investment Plan proposals). Discussions are still taking place about getting gamification to a 'hack day'; an event where computer programmers and others involved in software development collaborate intensively on software projects. Green HC1_006 Delivery 01 Apr 2014 of national careers helpline 31 Mar 2015 Jo Lenaghan NHS Careers helpline is still delivering to Service Level Aagreements. 79% of calls are answered within 10 seconds and 99% of emails within 48 hours. This means a combined SLA of 89%. Green HC1_007 Customer satisfaction of national careers helpline 31 Dec 2014 Jo Lenaghan Customer satisfaction of the helpline is still very high. With 81% of customers are either satisfied or very satisfied with the service they received from NHS Careers. 86% said they were either likely or very likely to recommend the service to someone else. BIS announced Apprenticeship standards for Health Care Assistants, Senior Health Care Assistants and Assistant Practitioners in Trailblazer 3. Draft standards have been developed and are out for consultation which ends on 12 December. Specific proposals via the established T2 Steering Group (HEIs, FEs and representatives of employer organisations, including NHS Employers) were to be made to BIS in Autumn 2014 but have been delayed to allow for more consultation. This interactive directory is available from the HENW project website. Positive feedback has already been received. A mechanism is in place for encouraging and receiving updates to keep the directory current and extend its value. Blue HC2_017 Schools competition 01 Apr 2014 30 Sep 2014 Jo Lenaghan The schools competition was launched on 8th September 2014. 5,000 flyers were sent out to schools across England along with a further 200 teacher packs being sent to previous entrants. A partnership was also agreed with Careersbox who are sending emails to their users and promoting the competition through their social media channels. There are already a number of perinatal mental health i-Learning modules on the platform but a more in depth facility is being explored to be in place by end of March 2015. To date, there are 10,500 registered users ranging from healthcare staff, police, teachers, youth workers, sport coaches, legal staff, scout and girl guide volunteers, plus many unregistered users. Over 14,000 sessions completed with larger number of unregistered users starting c10,000 sessions each month. Green EC1_014 Older persons' 01 Apr 2014 nurse post-graduate training 30 Sep 2014 Elaine Readhead The Older Person’s Nurse Fellowship Programme has been developed and will be delivered by King's College London. Initially, there will be 24 participants, 2 cohorts of 12 students. The selection and recruitment process for the fellowship is currently under way and strong applications have been received from across the country. An induction event for all fellows was held on 3rd September and the first cohort will complete in October 2015 and the second in February 2016. This include a major piece of work on the future of the paramedic, new roles and training for district and practice nurses and the piloting of new roles in general practice including speciality pharmacists, physician associates and advanced practitioners. Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) audit of Quarter 1 data collection processes showed they were robust, competent and carried out with integrity. The number of staff trained in Quarter 2 stands at 377,886 which exceeds the 2014/15 year-end target. This would deliver the planned total of 2,543 completers for 2013/14. However, average attrition across the year has risen to 7% with a higher than expected number of students requiring extensions to complete the final assessment.
