Welcome to our weekly news email! We will email this each week with plans and themes for the
following week and other news regarding the pre-school. We hope that you find this a useful way to

Staff News:
Dear Parents / Carers
It’s been another busy week with celebrating St. Georges Day and also baking flapjacks with the children.
Next we will be setting up camping for our role play area as the children have been really enjoying den
building. Within our campsite we will be introducing some of the forest school rules in readiness for
activities outdoors over the coming weeks. Any camping related items would be brilliant for our talking table.
Fancy some quality time with your partner or other family members? Why not join us at “Puttin’ on the
Ritz” on Saturday 16th May. Come and enjoy for high tea with finger sandwiches, homemade cakes and fresh
clotted cream scones whilst relaxing to the live music. . The event is being held 3pm-5pm in The Reading
Room (Church Street) and tickets are priced at £12.50 per person or two for £20 (adults only). Monies
raised will be for the benefit of Acorns with 10% being donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care. We will also be
having a raffle with some super prizes on offer. Tickets are available from Acorns, The Village Cafe and 57
Church Street (Sarah Owen) / 01295 768031. The success of these fundraising events enables us to provide
a wider range resources & experiences for the children.
Invoices are currently being sent out. Please contact Liz if you
haven’t received this by Monday 27th April.
Please ensure that your child has a sunhat and if you would like us to
apply suncream please provide a named bottle of suncream. If you
could try to apply suncream before each session, staff will top it up as
required.

Chattering Group
Helmdon Acorns will be providing small group talking time for
children. A membership card will be given to those children who
staff feel would benefit from this. By offering speaking and
listening activities in this group we aim to improve self confidence and clarity of speech. We will review “membership”
each half term and children with membership cards will be
accessing chattering group two or three times a week.
