Hepburn and District Parks and Recreation Board presents 2nd Annual Community Lottery Tickets are on sale until Friday June 5, 2015. We open up again on October 15, 2015 Recipe of the Month—Frozen Mocha Torte ~Submitted by Sandra Prokop~ 1 1/4 cups chocolate wafer crumbs 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup melted butter or margarine 2 (8oz) package cream cheese, softened 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk 2/3 cup chocolate syrup 1 Tbsp instant coffee granules 1 Tbsp hot water 1 cup whipping cream, whipped Combine the chocolate wafers, sugar and margarine. Press onto the bottom of a 9 inch springform pan and set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk and chocolate syrup until smooth. Dissolve coffee granules in hot water; add to cream cheese mixture. Fold in whipped cream. Pour over the crust. Cover and freeze for 8 hours or overnight. Uncover and remove from the freezer 10-15 minutes before serving. This recipe comes from the Arena cookbook and are available at the Town Office for $10. THE CENTRE Coffee Time - Wednesdays 9:00-10:00 am. All are welcome, not only seniors. Hepburn Fair Days are on June 5-7, 2015 Some events that will be happening: Parade - start planning your float and lets see how creative we can get! Art Show - Do you quilt? Draw? Paint? Woodwork? We would love to showcase the creativity that we have in our community. Start thinking about what you could submit. Talent Show - Start practising and show off your talents! Ball Tournament - Enter a team and play slo-pitch Fireworks - yup, bringing these back after many years hiatus. Carnival - family fun carnival with more games and activities than ever before Pancake Breakfast - the Seniors will once again be in charge of this U16 Valley Cup Tournament - catch a game or two as soccer games will be played throughout the weekend. Keep this day open come on out and participate in the events offered. HEPBURN MARKETPLACE Join us every Saturday this summer at the Museum of Wheat from 10 am – 1 pm for some great shopping from our local artisans. Expect to see all kinds of crafts (including knitting, crocheting, pottery, woodworking, etc), baking, preserves, produce, The Patch Market Garden, home based businesses (including Tupperware, Watkins, Epicure and more), garage sales, antiques, collectibles, bundled fire wood, and even the occasional busker! Come out and purchase your ticket for $20 and check out the quad that will be awarded on June 7, 2015 Starting to think about September already? Hepburn Market Place will be having our Fall Fair on September 19 in conjunction with the Threshing Bee again, and our competitions are back! So when you plant your garden or plan your summer, keep these competitions in mind: pie, baking, handicrafts, largest pumpkin, weirdest (most unique) vegetable, preserves (sweet), preserves (pickled or spicy), and garden picked bouquets. Age separation may be in effect for some categories.
