HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER April 27, 2015 Dear Parents: What a wonderful week we’ve had here at Holy Family. You’d never know that the school year is winding down with all flurry of events we’ve had the past few weeks. Our school colors may be GREEN AND GOLD, but on one day last week, the campus of Holy Family Catholic School went solely GREEN! Earth Day was a resounding success! This annual event celebrates God’s gift of our Earth and preserving the bounty it has to offer. Our events coincided with many worldwide ones held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Dozens of local vendors, speakers, and volunteers made this special day so worthwhile for our children. Thank you to all who participated and who helped organize the event, especially co-chair people Shannon McAleavey & Julie Roedema. An amazing job by all! We started the week with Earth Day and ended it Friday with a cultural flourish. Hundreds of people came together to enjoy an evening of music, art, & drama. Our children’s many talents were on display for all to see thanks to the guidance of Music Director, Michael Bustillos, Art teacher, Nancy Sell-Dane, and Drama teacher, Mackenzie Finnegan. I couldn’t have been more proud of your children. That night, we were all treated to a preview of this weekend’s HF Spring Musical, “The Sound of Music.” Rehearsals and preparations are in full gear on stage and behind the scenes. Don’t miss out on seeing our Genesian Players put on a show to remember. Tickets are still on sale: Go to www.hfcschool.com/genesian-players-drama -club for more information and to order your tickets now! The volleyball season is in its last week of regular play and grade school basketball is about to tip-off. It has been another amazing year at Holy Family. At the end of the school year I will be stepping down as Athletic Director. First and foremost I would like to thank Sr. Dorothy for the opportunity to serve the school that has served my children so well. Thank you to all the faculty, staff and families for all your support over the last four years. No one person makes this program. It certainly takes a lot of effort from many, many people to make this sports program the best in the diocese. A big thank you goes out to all the kids that have worked hard, BELIEVED in what they were doing and represented our school so well. You all have made it an absolute joy. The Booster Club is an iatrical part in the success of this program. Thank you ladies for all you do and continue to do for our children. It has been an incredible joy to be a part of this school for so long. I got to watch my children come through the school and sports program. I got to see the school and the program grow and become the best of the best. I am truly honored to have been a small part of it. Thank you. Once a Lion always a Lion! Believe, Coach Marcello, HFCS Athletic Director Dear HF families and staff: It is with a heavy heart that I am leaving Holy Family at the close of this school year. After 18 years, I am finally retiring. I feel so fortunate to have been a part of such a loving and supportive community for so long. It’s going to be difficult to give up my years as Director of Extended Day, but I am excited to see what God has planned for me next. Wishing you all well! He talked about the various types of satellites in orbit around the world and how we interact with them. The students also learned about the rockets used to get into space and how they work.
