Dear Parents and Guardians,
Through the collaborative effort of so many volunteers, this year’s auction, “Under the Sea” was a
success.! Many grateful thanks to those who volunteered endless hours as auction committee members:
John Barnett, Mary Ann Conway, Kim Gavreau, Danny Keegan, Brenda Martinez, John Mundy, Jennifer
Petrillo, Dianne Moser-Stout, Jeannine Carlin, Karen David, Terry Gottshall, Pat Manning, Gretchen
Moran, Andrea Pendle, Ann Marie Soto, and Deanna Zamora.
Thanks also to Karen Marrone for assisting our students with their wonderful artwork, and John and
Jen Rifkin for preparing and serving the dinner for the auction. We especially thank St. Frances Cabrini
Parish for the use of their gym.
Finally, let us not forget Kathy Jackson, Susan Weed, John Schrenk, Michael Simpson, Rick Tralies, Jane
McCaughey, Betty Ann Hancock, Tina Patitucci, our Pastors Monsignor McCormac and Father Hennelly,
and the entire Holy Family Faculty and Staff who supported the auction in myriad ways.

Please note that school closes following our 11:30 dismissal tomorrow, and will reopen Tuesday, April
7. We will be on a B schedule that day and summer uniforms may be worn.

Living Stations
The students of Holy Family Regional Catholic School will present the Living
Stations on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 9:30am for the
students and at 6:00pm for the general community. All are
welcome. Adults attending this performance are asked to
bring one “Meal in a Can.” (no boxes, please)
APRIL 1ST IS THE LAST DAY TO BRING IN YOUR

This year as a Lenten Offering the students were asked to
bring in a “complete meal in a can” (no boxes, please) Tomorrow, April 1 , is the

Our Hawks Soar!
Edition Two
Emily Szafara
Emily Szafara is currently a senior at Conwell Egan High School and was a member of our First
Graduating Class. She is an active member of the CEC family and is Spirit Captain for Conwell Egan’s
annual Spirit Night. This interview occurred during Pi Day when Emily and about a dozen other
Conwell Egan students volunteered to work with the students at HFRCS. Emily is currently ranked 17th in the
class with a GPA of 3.8. She has successfully completed several AP and Honors courses in high school.
JS- Emily, What has been happening since your years at HFRCS?
ES- After graduating HFRCS I went to Conwell Egan High School where I am currently the Vice President of
Student Council, on the cheerleading team and active in the Spirit Night. CEC has given me many great opportunities to grow into the person I am today. I also had the opportunity to start a Cancer Awareness club which is very
important to me. I am also a member of the East Program at CEC which allows me to develop outreach programs
that make the world a better place.
JS- Any college plans?
ES- I plan on attending Temple University, majoring in Biology. I hope to take that degree and move into the field
of Veterinary Medicine.
JS- What do you remember most about your time at Holy Family Regional?
ES- I think meeting so many new people the first year. We went from four small schools to one large school with
three 8th grade classrooms. It could have been overwhelming to many kids but the teachers really made us feel
like family and they really cared about how we were coping with the loss of our school and the transition into
our new school.
JS-Looking back- what memory stands out the most?
ES- During my year at HFRCS, my family was faced with the sudden death of my father. Holy Family
surrounded me and my family with love, compassion and support. What I felt during that dark time was the love
of a family that encircled me and encouraged me to move forward. That support allowed me to become the
person I am today. I know that if it were not HFRCS, my life could have turned out very differently.
JS- Looking back- would you have done anything differently?
ES- Absolutely NOT, HFRCS supported me when I needed it and allowed me to grow at my own pace. The
school allowed me to think for myself, and encouraged individuality while supporting each student.
JS – What did HFRS do to prepare you for your success at Conwell Egan ?
ES- The environment of learning created by HFRCS was academically challenging but fair. HFRCS cultivated responsibility and accountability. HFRCS made us responsible for our own success and allowed us to think out of
the box and express ourselves without judgment, all centered on the Catholic Values that make us who we are.
JS- When you think of Holy Family, what comes to mind first.
ES- Holy Family gave me a new beginning and a brighter future.
