From 1967 -1980, he dominated the competitive martial arts world, with his accomplishments recognized by Black Belt Magazine, ABC’s Wide World of Sports and ESPN. Since coming to the United States in 1966, Hidy Ochiai envisioned bringing the many benefits of traditional martial arts education to school-aged children. In 1994, he founded the not-for-profit Educational Karate Program (EKP), which has been validated and funded by the New York State Education Department since 1995. Hidy Ochiai is the author of five books on martial arts techniques, philosophy and practice.
