HIGHSHORE SCHOOL
8th May 2015
Dear Parents and Carers,
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
This week has been dominated by our Highshore Election.
The candidates have been busy campaigning for votes. On
Wednesday we held a special assembly where we watched the
party election broadcasts prepared by the five candidates. We
hope that you will be able to watch the broadcasts through a link
from our website. On Thursday all our pupils were given the
opportunity to vote and almost all chose to do so. Four of our year
13 pupils: Dan, Louis, Alf and Luke acted as election officials. I
was really proud of how seriously our pupils took their vote. Our
polling station had a very busy morning.
Today in assembly we gave certificates to all candidates and
election officials and announced our winner. Pupils in year 14
here are aged 18 or over and are eligible to vote. For the rest of
our pupils it was a great opportunity to experience what voting is
about, to make choices and to become more aware of the election
both in school and in the UK.
Many thanks to Bradley, Georgia, Marcus, Paige and Peter and
well done to Peter on his election!
