HAMDARD INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES & RESEARCH MEDICAL EDUCATION UNIT BASIC COURSE WORKSHOP IN MEDICAL EDUCATION TECHNOLOGIES A three-day Basic Course Workshop in Medical Education Technologies was organized by the Medical Unit of Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (HIMSR) under the aegis of MCI Regional Centre, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi. Prof. Poonam Loomba, Department of Microbiology and member Medical Education Department, MAMC was detailed as the MCI observer for the workshop. A total of 27 participants, all faculty members from HIMSR, attended this workshop. The three day academic program kicked off with a Pre-test and an interesting and interactive session on Group dynamics. It was followed by the Inaugural function. The occasion was graced by Dr. Firdous Wani (Registrar, Jamia Hamdard) and Prof. S Dwivedi (Dean, HIMSR). There were 17 sessions, planned for 3 days, covering all the topics as suggested by the MCI nodal centre. These sessions were conducted by eleven facilitators; viz. namely Prof. M C Kapilashrami, Prof. Patwari, Dr. Musharraf, Dr. Shobitha, Dr. Sabina, Dr. Amit, Dr. Azra, Dr. Shalini, Dr. Chandra Mohan, Dr. Zeeba, and Dr. Mukta. All these faculty members were trained at Regional Centre, MAMC, New Delhi. The MCI Observer, Prof. Poonam Loomba, took active part in many a sessions by making concluding remarks. She also took a session on Curricular innovations and Foundation Course. Dr. N S Hadke, Dir. Professor Surgery and Head, Medical Education Department and Convenor, MCI Regional Centre, MAMC, was invited as Chief Guest for the Valedictory session on Day 3/ last day of the workshop. He also took an illuminating session on integrated learning. At the Valedictory function, besides Prof N S Hadke, Prof Dwivedi, Dean, HIMSR and Prof. Poonam Loomba were invited as guests. All the esteemed guests were welcomed by Prof. M C Kapilashrami, Faculty Coordinator, MEU, HIMSR. Summary of the programme along with post test results were presented by Dr. Musharraf. After this, Dr. Zakirhusain Shaikh, representative of the participants, spoke on their experience and the knowledge they gained from this three day workshop. Thereafter, Prof Dwivedi, Prof Loomba and Prof. Hadke addressed the participants Certificates of participation were awarded to all the participants by Prof. Hadke. Dean, HIMSR presented the college memento to the guests and a vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Musharraf followed by high tea. Finally, the program culminated with a group photograph of all the participants and facilitators.
