Best Buddies: HHS Best Buddies officer elections will be on Thursday, May 7th, at 7:20am in Room 103. If
you are interested in running for a position in Hingham Best Buddies, please pick up a form from Mrs. Mathews
in Room 174 or in the Main Office. Forms are due back to Mrs. Mathews no later than May 6th by 2:32pm.
All officers who submit these forms must have a speech ready to present for the meeting on Thursday.
Reminder tonight is Best Buddy Movie Night at 6:00pm in Room 103. We will be showing Big Hero 6!
Bring $3 for pizza ~ drinks and snacks will also be provided!
All students taking the SAT exam THIS Saturday (May 2) must park in the Far Lot and plan on entering
the building at the Pleasant Street entrance. If possible we suggest getting dropped off as it is a town
Election Day.
Seniors - Athletic News: Senior athletes are asked to come down and check the board outside of the Athletics
Office and fill out a profile sheet for Senior Athletics Award Night. Please check the board before Friday
afternoon.
Attention Seniors: Want to leave your mark on Hingham High School? All seniors come and leave your
hand print on the wall by the jungle mural if you haven't already tomorrow right after school! It's the last
chance to do so before graduation!
More Class of 2015 News: There is a service commitment opportunity THIS Saturday, May 2, at the HPS
Depot from 9-3pm in 2 hour shifts. You may use these hours for community service or student council points.
The sign-up sheets are outside Room132. You may also sign up on line. Help show your class of 2015 spirit!
See Ms. Hunt or Ms. Perkins if you have any questions.
Attention all songwriters: Do you write your own music? Would you like to perform it in front of a live
audience? The 9th annual "Singer-Songwriter Showcase" will be held on Wednesday, May 27th, in the
auditorium. See Mr. Cincotta in the band room by next Friday, May 8th, to sign up for a time slot.
Interested in being the student speaker at graduation? This spot is open to any senior who wishes to speak
on any topic of his or her own choosing. The speech should be approximately three minutes in length. Any
senior who wishes to be considered must give his or her speech before a panel of juniors, teachers, and
administrators in late spring. Speeches must be submitted in advance. Seniors may drop off the speech in the
Main Office or email it to the principal at [email protected] The deadline for submission is
TODAY. Name, email address, and title must be on all speeches. After hearing all speeches, the panel will
decide whose speech will be delivered on graduation day. All speakers will be notified of the results by email.
Girls Learn International: GLI will be screening "To Educate a Girl" this Saturday at 3pm at the
Hingham Public Library. Admission is free, food will be served, and it will count as an April GCP event.
Sports News
Softball: Varsity softball's 9 to 6 victory over Duxbury last night was led by the offense of Taylor Commesso's
2 home runs ~ along with Ali Weaver, Rachel Hickey, and Paige Hinckley's doubles. Sarah Wight led the
defense pitching 7 innings, throwing 128 pitches and closing out the victory catching the final out. Junior
Varsity loss in a tough challenge, but were led by Rose Flynn's 3 run- home run and Maggie Mulkerrin's triple.
Girls’ Track: The undefeated track team beat Whitman-Hanson last night 105-31. Among the many point
scorers were freshmen Megan Hogan, Caroline Harkins, Sydney Conway, Zoe Dainton, Maddie Hoffses,
Heather Linscott, and sophomores Emma Burleigh, Casey Cavanaugh, Haley Pichard, Olivia Million and Renee
Noordzij. Paige King and Heather Linscott qualified for states in the 800m, Caroline Harkins qualified in the
200m, Mary Kate Brennan qualified in the 400m, and Megan Hogan qualified in the 100m and 400m.
Girls’ Golf: The Golf team has picked up where they left off with two more wins this week, improving their
record to 7-0. The entire lineup has contributed to these wins. The team hopes to continue their winning ways
today against Wellesley. Hingham defeated Wellesley in a close match at home earlier this year. Today's
starters are Hannah Jensen, Audrey O'Toole, Caroline Cook, Alison Cook, Marisa Mischik, Lea Concannon,
Julianna Fenton, and Maddy Wilson. Go harborwomen!
Boys’ Track: The team defeated Whitman-Hanson 91-45 yesterday. Ivan Frantz ran a 4:48 mile, and Dylan
Davis threw 97 feet in the discus. Mike Durkin placed second in the mile with a time of 4:45 and won the two
mile with a time of 10:14. The boys are 3-0, and will run against Quincy next week.
Flag Football: Intramural Flag Football will be Thursday evenings starting at 6:30pm. This is open to girls
and boys and no experience is necessary. Come ready at 6:30pm on the turf field under the lights! See Mr.
McDonald if you have any questions.

Seniors
A senior with at least a B- average for the year at the end of term 3 and at least a B average for term 4, with nonexempt
absences not in excess of two (2) in the fourth term may be excused from taking the final exam. The list of eligible students

Past Important Announcements
Staff Member of the Month ~ Congratulations to assistant principal Mr. Swanson for being selected staff
member of the month for all his hard work with the Green Team, baseball team, and his help on the Dominican
Republic service trip. Without him, HHS would not be a Green Ribbon School. Thanks for all you do at HHS!
Congratulations go out to EVERYBODY at Hingham High School for being awarded the Green Ribbon, an
honor presented by the US Department of Education to acknowledge our school’s achievements in taking a
comprehensive approach to sustainability.
Parking in the Union Street close lot is open ONLY TO SENIORS who have purchased a parking sticker ~
cost is $60. There is no fee for a sticker to park in the far Union Street lot which is open to any HHS
student. CARS THAT DO NOT HAVE PARKING APPLICATIONS PROCESSED, WILL BE IN
VIOLATION AND WILL BE DISCIPLINED & TICKETED ACCORDINGLY. Attention ALL drivers
~ please be advised that road restrictions are in effect on Stoddard Road (right across from the HHS
main entrance). It is a one way street between the hours of 2-3pm.
There are no after school LATE BUSES at HHS.
CAFETERIA: All students require a pin number to purchase lunch or any items sold in the Cafeteria. (The
POS pin number is also available through the Aspen X2 portal. To find it, go to the Demographics tab. It is
the last item listed in the left-hand column under the state identifier.)
TARDY INFORMATION: Students please remember that if you are tardy, you are to report the Main
Office area for a tardy slip. Students need to just bring in a signed note from a parent when reporting to
the Main Office. A parent does not need to accompany them.
DISMISSAL/ABSENT NOTE INFORMATION: All dismissals require a signed note from a parent.
Students should see Mrs. Player in Mrs. Henriksen’s office ONLY for dismissals or for any exempt
absent notes. Please see her before first period. Her office is located at the end of the Social
Studies/English corridor (2nd floor) next to the Nurse’s Office. Regular absence notes from home can be
given to the student’s A Block teacher. (Students being dismissed by the nurse are to be picked up by
parents at the Pleasant Street entrance.)
Reminder ~ PLEASE LEAVE ALL VALUABLES LOCKED IN LOCKERS WHEN ATTENDING
CLASSES, GYM CLASSES OR WHEN GOING OUT TO FIELDS FOR AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS.
