Earnie Porta, former Mayor of the Town of Occoquan and author of a book on Occoquan in the
Arcadia Publishing’s Images of America series, will give a talk about the History of the Town of
Occoquan.
The Public is invited to attend this free presentation by Historic Prince
William at 7:30 pm on Thursday May 21, 2015 in Room 107 A & B of
the Developmental Services Building at the McCoart Government
Administrative Center off the Prince William County Parkway.
Earnie Porta served as Mayor of the Town of Occoquan from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2104. Mr.
Porta received his Bachelors of Science degree cum laude from the Georgetown University School of
Foreign Service, where he also earned a Certificate in Arab Studies. He also holds a law degree from the
Georgetown University Law Center. After working in the field of Finance, he returned to school and in
2008 received a Master of Arts degree in History from George Mason University, where he was also the
recipient of the 2006 Josephine Pacheco Award. His research has been published in the journal Terrae
Incognitae and he is PhD candidate in History at Georgetown University.
Directions to Development Services Building at the McCoart Government Administrative Center:
From Interstate 95: Take the Prince William County Parkway Exit and follow the Prince William Parkway approximately 5.5
miles. Turn right to enter the James J. McCoart Government Center and then keep right for the Development Services Building
(5 County Complex Ct, Woodbridge, VA 22192). The parking lot is by the building on the left.
From Interstate 66: Take The Prince William Parkway/Route 234 Exit and follow the Prince William Parkway/Route 234
going south toward Woodbridge approximately 11.6 miles. Turn left to enter the James J. McCoart Government Center and then
keep right for the Development Services Building (5 County Complex Ct, Woodbridge, VA 22192). The parking lot is by the
building on the left.
