PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Holy Name Family:
It is hard to believe that this is the last Gator Gazette for the 2014-2015 school year!
It has been a terrific year, and I am so proud of our school community. Thank you to
each of you, from teachers to staff to parents to grandparents and to special friends,
who helped to make the year a success for our wonderful students.
The Kindergarten has graduation tomorrow morning at 8:30 AM with a reception and
dismissal to follow. Then the PreK has 11:15 AM dismissal. Thursday is Records
Day and no school for students. Please join us Friday for our Farewell Mass and
Awards at 8:30 AM in the HNJ Church. Dismissal Friday is 11:15 AM; however, you
make check your child out after Mass and Awards by signing him or her out in the
Lobby.
On a final note, I would like to especially thank Mrs. Lisa Houck for her years of
dedication and service to Holy Name of Jesus School. Her tireless efforts have
helped many. We wish you the very best in your retirement. I would also like to say
thank you and farewell to Mrs. Jamie Wood and Ms. Melissa Blancaneaux. Both
Mrs. Wood and Ms. Blancaneaux are leaving HNJ to pursue other endeavors, and
we wish them the very best.
I wish everyone a fun and safe summer. Remember to read every day!
Please click here for a list of important dates for the 2015-2016 school year.
A full calendar will follow this summer.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything.
In His Holy Name,
Jessica A. Dwyer, M.Ed.
Principal

SEVENTH GRADE
RELIGION
Students have been
attending the Adoration
Chapel on Fridays this
quarter. They seem to
truly enjoy the peace and
quiet of praying in the
presence of the Holy
Eucharist. Monday, May
25, seventh grade
attended a field trip to
Our Lady of Prompt
Succor National
Shrine. Students learned
about the history of the
Ursuline Sisters in New
Orleans, the Battle of
New Orleans, and the
devotion to Our Lady of
Prompt Succor. They
visited the beautifully
renovated chapel and
the Ursuline museum
with amazing artifacts. It
was a wonderful way to
remember the Battle of
New Orleans 200
hundred years ago, while
honoring our mother,
Mary.
5th Grade Dioramas
Fifth grade students in Mrs. Cathy's English
classes were given the assignment to choose a
biography book that tells the life story of
someone who may be famous or not so
famous, from today or from the past. The
students read the biography, wrote a report,
gave an oral presentation and made a diorama
to depict that person. Please enjoy some of
the wonderful dioramas below!
Seventh grade and
Kindergarten teamed up
in prayer. Seventh grade
showed their
kindergarten buddies
how to use the rosary
while praying a decade
together.
