VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Dayton Public Schools is recruiting for the position of Positive School Climate Teacher. This position will support
the integration of the districts initiatives to close the achievement gap both academically and behaviorally while
ensuring that PSC strategies are implemented with fidelity. The incumbent will report directly to the building
principal and support strategies focusing on cultural competency, disparity, attendance and behavior. This work
will be accomplished before, after and potentially on weekends (Saturday School).
This is a DEA position and is for one (1) school year.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Leads Positive School Climate (PSC) intiatives and ensures strategies are implemented with fidelity.
2. Works closely with principal and participates in Building Leadership Team (BLT) and Teacher Based
Teams (TBT).
3. Implement and monitor restorative justice practices based upon building’s needs.
4. Offer professional development as needed in either literacy, math and/or behavioral interventions.
5. Provide reading intervention for freshman at the high school level and reading and/or math intervention
in a PK-8 building (based on teaching license).
6. Monitor discipline and performance of at-risk students using district measures and tools.
7. Support district instructional initaitives as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years teaching experience with a valid Ohio teaching license.
2. Candidate must have a degree in Social Work, Counseling and/or Education with training/certification in
cultural competency and restorative justice practices.
3. Preference given to appropriately licensed teachers with related prior experience.
4. Must have demonstrated proficiency with multiple types of technology to collect, analyze or disseminate
data.
