LAUSD BOARD APPROVES PLAN TO CONTINUE IMPROVING MISIS
Twelve-Month Plan Aimed at Correcting Problems with Student Data System
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education today unanimously
approved $79.6 million in bond funding for a year-long plan to improve the My Integrated Student
Information System (MiSiS). In response, Superintendent Ramon C. Cortines thanked the board and the
Bond Oversight Committee for supporting a plan that he considered to be, “essential for supporting every
LAUSD student.”
The superintendent added, “This is a milestone in an on-going effort to provide the tools needed to serve every
student effectively.”
The superintendent acknowledged Diane H. Pappas, charged in October with leading the MiSiS recovery
effort, and the entire MiSiS team for their hard work. “This team has been doing a phenomenal job on this
project. They have been working night and day for months to provide what our schools need and our students
deserve.”
Cortines and Pappas also recognized the District’s partnership with Microsoft Corp. as a major factor in making
important improvements to the system. “Microsoft has demonstrated its commitment to the success of MiSiS
by providing some of its most talented and creative personnel to be part of our team,” the superintendent said.
“Their expertise and experience with large scale software deployments has proven invaluable to our efforts to
move this project forward.”
Microsoft was equally positive about their partnership with the District. “LAUSD is deploying technology to
create the very best environment for students and teachers to achieve better learning outcomes. It’s a goal that
aligns with Microsoft’s mission of empowering people to achieve more,” said Wes Anderson, vice president,
Worldwide Public Sector Services at Microsoft. “‪We are honored to work alongside LAUSD to transform MiSiS
into a more powerful asset for public education.”‪
