FROM THE DESK OF THE DIRECTOR Maine Adult Education “Learning for Work and Life” Registration begins September 4th W elcome to our Fall catalog! We can offer something for everyone this semester. The focus of Adult Education in Maine has expanded from traditional high school diploma classes to providing community members with pathways to career and/or college success. We offer adult diploma/GED classes and testing but there is a demand for vocational courses available to residents. To that end we have submitted a Career Pathways Plan to the Department of Education outlining what steps will be taken to promote skills training and career advising locally. This Spring we began an English Language Learners program in the evenings to meet the needs of a diversified Scarborough population. If you or someone you know could use assistance with English we hope that you will attend our Fall Open House listed in the catalog. Adult Education will still offer an array of enrichment classes to better your daily lives. Please let us know if you have any suggestions for future course offerings or if you may want to teach a class with us. This is your program and your input is welcomed at any time. You can e-mail me directly at [email protected] with suggestions for program improvement.
