ABOUT JULIE SCZERBINSKI
Julie Sczerbinski used to dream of being a guest on Oprah,
but now she wishes could go on location with Survivorman.
Why the switch? In 2012, she read Chris Martenson’s The Crash
Course, a book about the sustainability of our environment,
energy and economy. One life-altering sentence grabbed her
attention: “Massive change is upon us.”
Massive change would have challenged her Super Target
addiction plus a whole load of other conveniences she took
for granted in her “just flip the switch” lifestyle. The reality
was, if push came to shove, her family’s well-being would rest
in two very unskilled hands. After several sleepless nights, she
decided massive change of a personal nature was in order. She
set out to learn everything she could about self-reliance, which
meant focusing a little less on the country club and more on the
country living.
In 2013, Julie created the blog, Home Ready Home
(homereadyhome.com) for parents who share her concerns
about a changing world and want a strategy to safeguard their
families. In a short time, Home Ready Home has become one of
the leading blogs on emergency preparedness and self-reliant
living. Julie is also the author of Survival Savvy Family: How to Be Your Best During the Absolute Worst.
She has been featured in The Charlotte Observer and interviewed on several podcasts. Her work as a writer
has also been published in regional and national magazines such as Natural Health and Animal Wellness.
