Total Respect Training

Total Respect Training
For all professionals who work with children and young people in care and care leavers in
any capacity, including but not exclusively: social workers, after care personal advisors,
team managers, elected members, service managers, school governors, teachers, foster
carers, IRO’s, health professionals, youth offending professionals and residential workers.
This training is compulsory for Social Workers and ACPA’s in the Through Care, Leaving
Care and Late Entry Team.
Total Respect Training is about taking seriously the views and opinions of children and
young people in care and enabling their participation in decision-making about their
care and wider service development.
Individuals who are responsible for listening to children still need to be
given the opportunity to work with each other and young people
themselves to establish the practical means of turning children’s voices
into real life changes.
The training highlights the shared responsibility we all have to ensure that
children and young people participate in all aspects of social care, from
involvement in individual care planning and statutory reviews to local
policy development and children’s services planning.
TRAINING WILL BE DELIVERED BY YOUNG PEOPLE IN CARE AND WITH CARE EXPERIENCE
