IATSE 891 will pay the travel and registration costs, which include tuition,
accommodation and meals. All other incidentals are the responsibility of the
member.
An honorarium will be paid to participants upon receipt of a summary report
outlining their experience of and knowledge gained at the Institute. Report
guidelines will be provided.

Complete the entire application form with personal contact information
Complete the course selection with your first and second choices
Single accommodation will be paid by the Union
Remember to indicate any special or dietary needs.
In addition to completing the registration form, attach a short (250 words or less)
letter outlining why you would like to attend the Summer Institute for Union
Women.
Your letter should include:
•
Your involvement with IATSE Local 891, including any positions you have
held and the duration of your service (e.g. departmental chair, committee
member, shop steward)
•
List any Union sponsored courses you have attended previously
•
How your SIUW selected courses relate to your involvement with the
Union
•
How the knowledge and experience you gain from attending the Summer
Institute course will benefit Local 891
Members who are unable to provide a written letter should call 604-664-8958, or
email [email protected] no later than noon on Thursday, May 21, 2015.
Assistance with the application process is available to members with problems
with written English
Applications will be reviewed by a three member panel. All decisions will be final.
Once the selection process is complete, all applicants will be notified before 5 pm
on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.
A Code of Conduct will be given to each attendee, along with a copy of the
attending member’s signed registration form.
COURSE COMPLETION REQUIREMENT
Upon course completion, members are required to:

Submit course certificate to the Training Department for copying
Submit course material so that it can be scanned and saved for reference
(Material will be returned to member)
•
Submit a summary report to the Executive Board.
