For further information: www.buildingtrades.ca The Opportunity This newly created position has been established to build the capacity of the CBTU to serve its members and expand its reach in negotiating major construction projects and collective bargaining agreements. Reporting to the Canadian Director, the Deputy Director will provide support to the Director in executing the affairs of the CBTU and will share the leadership of the highly skilled and professional national office staff. The Deputy Director will be a champion for the advancement and diversity of the skilled trades, and for apprenticeship in the Building Trades. Key Job Functions: Support and represent the Canadian Director in leading and executing the affairs of the CBTU; Provide direction to Government Relations, Workforce Development and Communications staff; Develop trusted and productive working relationships with: the 15 international unions; Canadian Executive Board; CBTU officials and affiliates; provincial Councils; local unions, government officials; politicians; and construction industry owners, contractors and representatives; Promote workforce outreach and development, including apprenticeship and qualification matters; Represent the CBTU at events, conferences, committees, working groups and councils; Deal with affiliated unions and contractors in problem-solving, bargaining and administration; and Develop and implement national programs for the construction and maintenance industries.
