Title 1 School
A letter from the Principal
Dear Gator Families,
As we move into the final nine weeks of the school year, I am
so proud of the exceptional accomplishments of our Gators.
Our Future Business Leaders of America placed 1st in the state of
Florida and will move on to the National Competition in Chicago
next month. Our World Language Academic Bowl teams placed
both 1st and 2nd in the District competition, Senior Leanne Ellis
was named Southwest Florida Miss Basketball, and our Law
Academy’s Mock Trial Team placed 3rd of all the public and
private schools in the county! It truly is great to be a Gator!
We are excited to have rolled out our new and improved
school website. Be sure to visit ich.leeschools.net to access
important
and
helpful
information
for
the
entire
Gator
community.
Seniors will need to attend our Senior Meeting on April 8, at
7:30 a.m. to receive all the end-of-year information, including
graduation, awards, and senior activities.
As always, contact me or any member of my staff when you
have questions or need assistance.
Wishing all of you a wonderful Spring,
Kristen Bueno
Principal, Island Coast High School
You can access ParentLink for information through your smartphones or tablets with the Lee County
Public Schools App. Log on to Google Play (for Android devices) or the App Store (for Apple devices)
to download the application. This app will allow you to receive real-time messages directly from your
child’s school or the District. This is a great way to stay tuned-in to exciting school events, student
activities and emergencies.
Parent Log-on Information:
• User name is the Student ID of the eldest child in the District, living in the student’s household,
followed by the parent’s first and last initial. The student’s household includes all students living at the
same address, with the same home phone number. For example, if the Student ID of Jane Doe’s eldest
child in the household is 12345678, Jane Doe’s user name would be 12345678JD
• The password is the birth date of the student whose ID was used for the User name, in the format of
MMDDYY. For example, if the birthdate of Jane Doe’s eldest child is January 1, 1965, Jane Doe’s
password would be 010165.
Many students at Island Coast take AP-level classes, in which they learn a subject
at a college level. These classes give a higher GPA and show that you are able to
work at a higher level than high school. At the end of every AP class, each student
will take an AP test, which covers the entire course and determines whether or not
the student will gain college credits for the class.
These tests are scored by teachers and other educators from around the country.
Two teachers from ICHS were selected to score these tests. Congratulations to Mr.
Loughren and Mr. Statti. They will be going to Cincinnati, Ohio from June 2 to June 9, to join other
teachers in scoring tests from students around the country. In order to become an official scorer, you
need to fill out a long application process, and you must have three years of teaching experience in the
subject which tests you wish to score.
Mr. Loughren teaches AP World History and AP Human Geography at Island Coast, and he will be
scoring AP Human Geography. He states that, “I learn how to score them better so I can teach my own
students better,” as his reason for scoring the tests. Mr. Statti teaches AP Government at Island Coast,
and he will be scoring that test for students all around the country. Neither of these teachers will know if
any of the students’ whose tests they are grading will be from Island Coast, as they will be anonymously
given to the scorers.
