Elementary Teacher – The Academy
The Idaho Learning Center is seeking God’s wisdom in finding a dynamic, spiritually gifted
individual with a love for the Lord Jesus, and a desire to serve Him as part of a unified Christian
school faculty and staff that revels in the opportunity to share God’s Truth in all we teach and do.
We desire to strive for the excellence that God calls us to in preparing our students to impact the
world for Christ. Therefore, we are seeking someone who first and foremost has a strong
relationship with Christ that is evidenced in all aspects of their life.
This is a teaching position at the Academy for 1st-6th grades. You will work on a team with faculty
and staff who are passionate about serving Christ by seeking to understand all of His children and
how they learn, and helping them reach their fullest potential. We are a unified group of
believers, who are imperfect this side of heaven, but who desire to improve every day in how we
prepare students to realize their giftedness from God and to know how much He loves them.
Qualities and qualifications we require in a candidate:
 A strong testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and evidence of faith in action.
 Desire to invest in and disciple students in their relationship with the Lord.
 Ability to work well with a variety of personalities and age groups, including staff,
parents, and students.
 Strong communication skills and relational personality.
 An attitude of service and partnership with teachers and parents.
 Experience and background in elementary education with training, experience, and heart
for working with students who have diagnosed learning disabilities.
 Experience in providing remediation and educational support for students in 1st-6th
grades.
 A demonstrated understanding of learning disabilities such as dyslexia and intervention
strategies.
 A demonstrated understanding of the twice exceptional student.
 A teachable heart, with demonstrated leadership ability.
 A unifier who strives to unify students, teachers, and parents in working toward common
goals and mission.
 Organization ability and experience in developing plans and then leading implementation
of the plan through others.
 A high level of patience from the Lord.
 A Bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in Education is preferred.
 Willingness to accept encouragement and constructive feedback by designated mentor
for the first year.

Essential duties/responsibilities:
 Teach a core class (Literature/English, Math, Writing and/or History) to three classes of
students in 1st-6th grades, working collaboratively with a teaching team.
 Be willing to teach other subjects in your area of giftedness as needed.
 Participate with the elementary team in the assessment process of new students to
ensure the implementation of an individualized education plan for each student in 1st-6th
grades.
 Develop lesson plans with clear objectives that align to expected outcomes which
include multisensory strategies that meet the differentiated needs of each student.
 Maintain a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning which includes
procedures that help to provide a positive learning environment especially for students
with learning disabilities.
 Provide Group Educational Therapy (training provided) to a small group of students four
days per week.
 Participate in weekly staff meetings.
Job Data:
 Hours: Full-time/9 month contract
 Annual Salary: approximately $23,000 annually
 Benefits: No benefits at this time for ILC employees
 Tuition Discount: 50% tuition discount
 Start Date: One week training in mid-June, full time beginning August 7, 2015
