5th IWA/WEF Wastewater Treatment Modelling Seminar Annecy, France April 2nd – 6th, 2016 WWTmod2016.irstea.fr SCOPE WWTmod2016 is the fifth seminar in the modelling series started in 2008. WWTmod promotes ongoing dialog between experts by providing a regular forum to facilitate discussions on all aspects of wastewater treatment modelling, especially “within the fence” (whole plant modelling). The main objective of the seminar is to disseminate recent findings and case studies with an aim to build consensus, and develop best practices for the most pressing challenges faced by the wastewater treatment industry. PHILOSOPHY WWTmod favours quality over quantity. This is guaranteed by a single track seminar set-up (starting on Monday and ending on Wednesday) with a schedule that includes ample time for discussion on every presentation. All sessions will be led by a moderator, and include an extended brainstorming/ discussion at the end. Several parallel full-day workshops will be scheduled for Sunday in an effort to lay the groundwork for consensus building on topics selected by the scientific committee from submitted proposals. These workshops will be preceded by a YWP workshop (on Saturday) organized and attended by YWP (Young Water Professionals). Active involvement of YWP is at the heart of the WWTmod conference series. By limiting the number of participants to 120 motivated individuals that are active in the wastewater treatment modelling field, consensus on a number of issues is assured. Participation in WWTmod is by invitation following an application review procedure. PROGRAMME The program will be based on an open call for contributions (July 2015). Those who wish to present at the seminar are encouraged to start the consensus building process by collaborating with co-authors from different groups on 3-page abstracts. Where reasonable, the scientific committee may condense the topics of major interest and invite groups to present their ideas collectively. The scientific committee reserves the right to ask for fusion papers where it identifies an overlap between abstracts submitted by different groups. In July 2015 a Workshop proposal call will be launched. The goal of the workshops is not to just present information, but to help clarify modelling issues. VENUE In an effort to expand the geographic reach of the seminar while maintaining its spirit, the fifth edition of WWTmod will be held in the Rhône-Alpes region in France. Located in a 4 hectare forested park, "les Balcons du Lac d'Annery" offers an incomparable view of the Annecy Lake and the surrounding mountains.
