Staffing Changes…
Janelle Stewart, our Community Services Coordinator, is relocating to
Toronto in the near future. Janelle has brought the excitement of being a new grad,
with new and energetic ideas. We will miss her compassion, kindness, creativity and
vast knowledge of client needs and community services. To Janelle, we all wish you
success and happiness and lots of fun in Toronto.
We have now completed the interview process and have selected Amy Donaldson
as our new Community Services Coordinator. Amy will be working with Janelle to
ensure a seamless transition.
As of March 6th, our Fitness Coordinator Deanna Tasker has moved on and is no
longer with our organization. She brought a wealth of knowledge of fitness and helped
to grow our exercise programs here at the Centre and we wish her all the best in her
future endeavors.
Currently the Staff and Board of Directors are evaluating the staffing structure to
determine what would best compliment our organization.

“ALL DRESSED UP”
All Dressed Up, is a program created by Oxford OPP to assist Grade 8 and
Grade 12 graduating girls with obtaining their grad and prom dresses. We
recognize the costs associated as well as the financial pressure on parents
and students. Our hope is to see every graduating student attend in the
same fashion as others that may be more financially secure. Graduation is a
right of passage and we hate to see anyone miss this due to lack of proper
attire.
This is our 8th year and we have assisted more than 200 Oxford County girls.
We have hundreds of donated dress and accessories, plus the assistance of
many local businesses, which help us help others.
This year we are fortunate enough to have partnered with “Ingersoll Services
for Seniors” and will be holding the event at their location at 250 Ingersoll St S
on Thursday April 16th from 4:00-9:00 pm.
We are excited at this partnership and the potential for local seniors to
volunteer and help us on the day of the event.
Information is sent out through the Thames Valley School Board as well as
local services. If you know of anyone who my benefit from this event, please
contact Michelle Murphy from Oxford County OPP at
[email protected] or 519-320-0700
Would you like to help out? Volunteers needed for: hanging dresses, direct
girls to change areas, help with shoes & jewelry and tell the girls they look
beautiful!!
Do you have any granddaughters with dresses, accessories taking up
space in their closets?.
Gently used dresses and still in style-no more than 5-7yrs old. They are
cleaned after the girls choose the dress, so some minor stains/problems are
ok. Gently worn dress shoes, jewelry, clutch purses—all welcome

“Kelly Kneads” You Massage Therapy Clinic
There is no denying the power of bodywork. Regardless of what kind of massage (relaxation,
therapeutic, deep tissue) or the reasons to have a massage a luxurious treat, stress relief, pain
management) massage therapy can be a powerful ally in your healthcare regime.
Experts estimate that upwards of 90% of disease
is stress related, and perhaps nothing ages us
faster, internally and externally, than stress. While
eliminating anxiety and pressure altogether in this
fast-paced world may be idealistic, massage can,
without a doubt, help manage stress.
This translates into:

Decreased anxiety

Enhanced sleep quality

Greater energy

Improved concentration

Increased circulation

Reduced fatigue
Clients often report a sense of perspective and clarity after receiving a massage. The emotional
balance bodywork provides can often be as vital and valuable as the more tangible physical
benefits.
Getting a massage can do you a world of good. And getting a massage frequently can do even
more. This is the beauty of bodywork. Taking part in this form of regularly scheduled self-care can
play a huge part in how healthy you'll be and how youthful you'll remain with each passing
year. Budgeting time and money for bodywork at consistent intervals is truly an investment in your
health.
Kelly Kupczyk is a Registered Massage Therapist, a Physiotherapy Assistant, as well as a Certified
Bowen Practitioner. Call Kelly Kneads You Massage Therapy, located within the Seniors Activity
Centre, to book your massage—you can contact Kelley at 226-973-8673

Here at the Centre
March 20th was “International Happiness Day”
We asked members attending the Centre that day, to write us a brief message.
Here is what you had to say...
TO-DAY I'M HAPPY BECAUSE...
It's Pub Night and my daughter is coming with me!!
The sun is out and all the snow is melting.
The sun shines.
I am here after three battles with cancer. Also I'm able to go out and participate in different activities and
meet a lot of very interesting seniors.
I'm going to play cards.
The sun is shining.
I'm happy because I'm here.
Over 80 and still going strong, thanks to the centre!!
The sun is out!
I woke up smiling this morning.
Still breathing.
The snow in my yard is almost gone!
Because it is my husbands birthday and he is older than me!
I'm happy because Kim told me.
I have a roof over my head and food in my stomach, I'm just happy to be here.
I have red shoes that fit.
We did Zumba.
I got a cheque in the mail and it didn't bounce.
I'm happy to be alive.
There's no reason not to be.
It's pub night.
My girl friend who has cancer - several operations, chemo, radiation and leg amputation is still alive.
I get to be with all of you.
Tonight is pub night.
It's pub night.
People do nice things for you.
Everyone at the seniors centre is so nice.
My tulips and daffodils are up!! Must be SPRING.
I have so many good friends.
I live in Canada.
I have the joy of the Lord every day.
Because of double digits.
The sun is shining and it is Friday.
My true love and I have been together for a year.
I have a family I am proud of and I still have reasonably good health.
I'm alive! I love what I do and the people in my life.
The Seniors Centre is here!!
I was able to get out of bed!
I am here!
I am living with my family...most unusual.
I was able to ride out for the first time since early December and the new puppy slept through the night
