Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Bonnie Taub, on the faculty of the
Fielding School of Public Health, and Department of Anthropology, as Associate Director of the
UCLA Latin American Institute in her role as Co-Chair of the Latin American Studies IDP. We are
adding this title for Bonnie to reflect more integration of the degree program into the Center
going forward.
Bonnie Taub is a medical anthropologist and public health educator and researcher whose courses
form the core of the Latin American Studies health curriculum, and whose mentorship is vital in the
Latin American Studies / Public Health interdepartmental MPH/MA program. Her research interests
include global children’s and family health, mental health, exploration of traditional medicine and
shamanism with Western medicine, indigenous peoples, human rights, qualitative research
methodology, video ethnography, surgical anthropology and cultural competency for clinicians
in the United States and worldwide.
Please join us in congratulating Professor Bonnie Taub on her new title!
Sincerely,
