Navigation Bar: to turn on the Navigation Bar go to the “View” Tab
and click on “Navigation Bar” (Left arrow above)

Navigation Wheel – the commands below on a moveable wheel
Pan – used to pan side-to-side or up-and-down in the model
Zoom – used to zoom into an area of the model
Orbit – used to orbit around a single point
Eyeball – used for looking around from a stationary point
Feet – used for “walking around”, panning and looking up
and down
Selection Arrow – used for selecting items in the model

Right
Feet: Click on the feet to walk around. Start in the middle
of the view, hold down the left mouse button and push the
feet around the screen to move forward, backward, left and
right.

Feet: Click on the feet and hold down the CTRL
button to pan up, down, left and right.

Feet: Use the roller ball to look up and down while
in the feet command.

Orbit: Click the Orbit Command once. Hold the
Ctrl Button, then click the left mouse button. Hold
both buttons to drag the “
” and drop in onto
what you desire to rotate around. Then release
Ctrl and hold the left mouse button to orbit around
the pivot point.

Eyeball: Click the Eyeball and you will get an
arrowed curve that you can use to look a full 360
degrees around from a single point.
In the eyeball tool, scroll the rollerball to zoom into
an area or press and hold to pan

Saved Viewpoints: Docked on the right
side of your Navisworks screen is the “Saved
Viewpoints Window. Views are your starting
point. They control what you see and how you
see it.
KEYS – control which ‘layers’ you see (structure
& MEP only) and how you are seeing them
(transparent/solid). If you can’t see a view
properly, click to a transparent key view and then
back to the view- the transparency settings will
“follow” you to the view
CUTS – control how the model is sectioned.
There are plan cuts, RCP’s, underground…
PLACES– These are starting points around the
model. They are grouped into folders by location
(Either the level name or “The Yard”

TIP: If you lose your place or get lost in space then double
click on a view in the saved viewpoints to go back to a
good starting point.

Measuring – shortest distance: Move to view the two
items you want to know the distance between and select them
both. Hold the control key to select more than one item at a
time. Go to the “Review” tab and select “Shortest Distance”.

Measuring – a length: Go to the “Review” tab and select
“Measure”. Click your starting point and the end point of the
measure. After you click the first point you can then lock one of the
axis to ensure an orthogonal measurement. Suggestion: rotate
around the measurement to ensure that the measure is
perpendicular and to the correct points.
