2015 Bologna Symposium Scholarship Criteria
Scholarship Application Deadline: March 16, 2015
Please read the below criteria to determine whether you qualify for any of the three scholarships.
IPSI scholarships are EXTREMELY competitive.
 Scholarships are merit- and need-based
 Scholarship applicants are permitted to apply to ONE Symposium per year; if you choose to
apply for a scholarship to the Bologna Symposium, you are not permitted to also apply for The
Hague Symposium.
 Scholarships are for tuition costs only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other
reduction in fees offered by IPSI. Under no circumstances does IPSI provide scholarships for
travel, visa costs, accommodations in Bologna, or food costs.
1. The Wangari Maathai Scholarship
Value: $500 off the standard tuition
Criteria:
 Be between the ages of 20-35;
 Currently be working on issues of peace and security
 Demonstrate why you are uniquely suited to utilize IPSI’s trainings to foster peace and
security
 Demonstrate financial need;
 Be willing to “earn” your scholarship to the Bologna Symposium through community
organizing, as explained below.
2. The Aung San Suu Ky Scholarship
Value: $1000 off the standard tuition
Criteria:
 Be between the ages of 20-35;
 Currently be working on issues of peace and security
 Born and/or lived in a conflict or post-conflict country for a majority of your life;
 Demonstrate why you are uniquely suited to utilize IPSI’s trainings to foster peace and
security
 Demonstrate financial need;
 Be willing to “earn” your scholarship to the Bologna Symposium through community
organizing, as explained below.

3. The Mahatma Ghandi Scholarship
Value: $2000 off the standard tuition
Criteria:
 Be between the ages of 20-35;
 Currently be working on issues of peace and security
 Currently live in a conflict or post-conflict country where you have spent a majority of
your life;
 Born and/or lived in a conflict or post-conflict country for a majority of your life;
 Demonstrate why you are uniquely suited to utilize IPSI’s trainings to foster peace and
security
 Demonstrate financial need;
 Be willing to “earn” your scholarship to the Bologna Symposium through community
organizing, as explained below
Measurable Results of Funded Students: If selected for a scholarship, you will commit to 10 hours of
community service for every $500 in scholarship money. IPSI will provide you with the materials and
support necessary to carry-out this commitment, as well as track your progress.
