SIGN UP NOW FOR GREAT CHURCHES, UNIVERSITIES, & MEDICAL VISITS in the historic city of Havana! This trip is the result of planning that took place at the first exchange in Cuba on faith & science in early January 2015 The détente between Cuba and the US was announced late December 2014 and was a direct result of the Vatican’s role as facilitator. In early January 2015 the groundwork was laid with Catholic clergy in Cuba for the first Cuban and American dialogue on medicine and religion in over 50 years. Cuba is known for its excellent medical training and now there is also a wonderful resurgence in the religious community in Cuba. This dialogue will start with presentations on faith and science led by American professors that were instructors at the Pontifical University in Rome. One is affiliated with Institute for Spirituality and Health (ISH). At 60 years the ISH is the oldest such organization in the US and is located in the Texas Medical Center (TMC), the largest medical center in the world. The other is an evolutionary biologist who worked on the genome project. A report on this dialoge will be made available at the 2016 Medicine and Religion Conference in Houston, Texas (http://www.medicineandreligion.com/). This Conference is co sponsored by Harvard University, University of Chicago, ISH and others. A report on this dialogue will also be made available to the Pontifical University Rome in advance of Pope Francis’ planned trip to Cuba. The Archdiocese of Havana will welcome participants to explore the faith community in Havana.
