Book Fair News From Mrs. Sutton A big THANK YOU to ICA families and friends for supporting our school by purchasing books at our book fair. We increased our sales over last year by $525.00 entitling us to a special bonus in credits towards future book fair purchases for our library and intervention room. Literacy night was also well supported by our families and friends with about 133 children attending and enjoying the food, stations, prizes and bounce house. C.P.C.U. is at ICA each Monday at lunchtime for students to make deposits into their savings accounts. During the month of March C.P.C.U will be doing Shoot for Loot. The plan is during lunch every Monday from March 23 to April 27 CPCU wl invite one classroom at a time to come and answer a financial literacy question for a chance to “:Shoot for Loot”! Each student who answers a question correctly gets a chance to shoot a basket and win a Free Jean Day coupon from CPCU. Monday, April 13th 1st and 6th grades will “Shoot for Loot”. Island City Academy is offering Painting with Dessert on Saturday, April 18th. (our version of Painting with a Twist) Mrs. Spanninga will be teaching two sessions of art. The morning session is an easier painting opened to any age from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The second session is a bit more difficult and is open to anyone 12 or older from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. . The cost is $20.00 per painter and includes a 16 x 20 canvas, all the paint, dessert and drinks. Each session is limited to 20 people. Allison Ives in second grade held the door open for a parent whose arms were full of Market Day stuff. Kaeden Simon in first grade found Market Day money and returned it to the owner. Preston Schlichter in first grade chased pizza boxes to the woods when they blew out of the trash cans. Danae Feldpausch in sixth grade took care of math books that were left out in lab. Flora Steien in fourth grade and Evan Lease in first grade picked up a stack of books that were left out in the library. Kirsten Barnhart and Danae Parish both in seventh grade helped Mrs. Spanninga clean paintbrushes. Alexis Davenport in fourth grade always makes sure their lunch table is clean. Attention ICA Families: The 8th grade class is hosting a spaghetti dinner/talent show on Saturday, April 25th. We have the most amazing talents for you to come see. We hope to see lots of our ICA families at the performance. The dinner will be provided by Fazolli’s. We have spaghetti, fettuccine with breadsticks, salad, cookie and a drink. Cost is $9.00 adults, $5.00 students. Orders can be turned in now through Friday, April 17th. To go boxes will be available. She is moving out of the area with her husband and will not be returning for the 2015 – 2016 school year. Mrs. Wolfe has had a tremendous impact on all of our students and families and she will be greatly missed. While we are sad to see her leave. We certainly wish the Wolfe family the best!
