Tamra Pawloski
President-Elect
appy March! I can’t believe
that we are two months into
the year and 6 months into
the 2014-2015 ISM-NJ year.
Have you established your professional
goals for 2015? I am in the process of
revising mine and often think about
“what can I do this year that I wanted
to do last year and didn’t”. As a goal,
I am required to make movement on
that item. Every year, cost savings is a
goal and every year it gets tougher and
tougher to meet. But I love a challenge!
Coming up with innovative ways to
negotiate with suppliers is what makes
our jobs so much fun. I would love to
hear from you as to what you think is
your toughest goal to meet this year
and what ISM-NJ can provide through
your membership to help. You can
reach out to me at tpawloski@chubb.
com.
For ISM-NJ, we (the Board of
Directors) have been working diligently
to provide the most to our membership. Our dinner programs have been
very relevant and informative. Our
new webinars have been great for me
when I can’t travel but need to get some
training in at a very affordable price.
I am very excited about the Supplier
Management Forum “Technology in
Procurement” being held at Princeton
University on March 19th. Not only is it
the day before spring begins but I will
be partnering with a colleague of mine
to talk about mitigating risk with your
suppliers. Cyber risk is a hot topic for
all of us. Our keynote speaker, Jay Merenda from Accenture, will be talking
about technology’s role in the future of
procurement. Technology has had such
an influence on how we do our jobs
already. I am curious to hear about further impacts. There will be two panels
on IT security and risks associated with
utilizing technology. A day packed with
very useful information. Hope to see
you there!
On behalf of myself and ISM-NJ,
we would like to congratulate Hans
Melotte, Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer of Johnson and Johnson, for his appointment as Chairman
of the Board for ISM. We look forward
to his continuing support of our affiliate
and wish him much success!

In Memory of Muriel Tice
Muriel Tice, one of our lifetime members recently passed away and is survived by her husband, Bernie, after over 40 years of
marriage. We extend our condolences and sympathy to her family and friends.
Driving Directions
From the NORTH/NEW YORK
CITY
Take the New Jersey Turnpike south
to Exit 9 (New Brunswick). After the
toll booths, take the first right turn onto
the ramp for Route 18 north. Soon after
you enter Route 18, take the left side of
a fork in the road, staying in the right
lane. Immediately bear right for an exit
to U.S. Route 1 south/Trenton.
Drive south on Route 1 for about 16
miles to the Washington Road exit,
which is a traffic circle. Take the first
right off the circle toward Princeton.
The campus is located approximately
a mile straight ahead. See directions
to parking lots 21 and 23 for further
details.
From the WEST
Drive east on Interstate 78 into New
Jersey. Exit onto southbound Interstate
287 (toward Somerville). Follow signs
for Routes 202/206 south. Drive south
on 202 for a short distance and then follow signs to 206 south, which will take
you around a traffic circle. Go south on
206 for about 18 miles to Nassau Street
(Route 27) in the center of Princeton.
Turn left onto Nassau Street, and follow
it to the third traffic light. Turn right
onto Washington Road. See directions
to parking lots 21 and 23 for further
details.
From the SOUTH
If you are coming from southern New
Jersey, we recommend that you take
Interstate 295 north (instead of the New
Jersey Turnpike). Take Exit 67 to Route
1 north. Travel about three miles north
on Route 1 to the Washington Road
exit, which is a traffic circle. Go three
quarters of the way around the circle
and turn right toward Princeton. The
campus is located approximately a mile
straight ahead. See directions to parking lots 21 and 23 for further details.
From the EAST
Take Interstate 195 west (toward Trenton) to the exit for Interstate 295 north.
Drive seven miles to the exit for Route
1 north (exit 67). Travel about three
miles north on Route 1 to the Washington Road exit, which is a traffic circle.
Go three quarters of the way around the
circle and turn right toward Princeton.
The campus is located approximately
a mile straight ahead. See directions
to parking lots 21 and 23 for further
details.

2015 Crystal Award Supply Management Executive Nomination Form
The Crystal Award is presented annually to the most outstanding supply management executive in New Jersey. The recipient is
selected from nominations submitted by the members of ISM-NJ. In addition, the dinner chairman for the prestigious affair is the
executive with the next highest rating. Thanks to the very effective efforts of The Crystal Award Committee, our Crystal Award is
reaching public audiences of NJN Channel 12, Bloomberg Radio 1130 AM, NJ.com, and the Star Ledger.
The purchasing, procurement, sourcing, supply management profession has not yet attained the popularity or respect that it rightfully
deserves, considering the influential control our profession exerts as it contributes to the determination of the bottom line. The conservative nature of the purchasing profession hinders most activities that might enhance or “market” its image. The Crystal Award is
a very visible and significant opportunity that can assist us with the awesome task of raising our stature.
Please take the time to fill out the nomination form today - for the enhancement of your profession, yourself, your company and your
organization.
