Prize Drawing Rules If you’re the holder of an “ENTRY” ticket for the Wheel of Fortune scratch game, you have the chance to win one of two trips to Hollywood, CA or cash prizes up to $1 million! I. General Description of Promotion and Drawings Holders of special winning “ENTRY” Wheel of Fortune tickets can submit them to the South Dakota Lottery to enter a drawing to win one of two trips to Hollywood, CA, including a chance at a $1 million spin-off. A second drawing will also be held for cash prizes up to $1 million. Entries must be turned in by 5:00 p.m. CT, Feb. 9, 2012 to be eligible for the Hollywood trip. All entries turned in by 5:00 p.m. CT, Aug. 17, 2012 (including those received for the trip giveaway) will be entered into a SECOND drawing to choose one name to be included in a multi-state drawing for a cash prize of up to $1 million. The final drawing will include all eligible entries from all participating lotteries and will be held on Sept. 17, 2012. The odds of winning a trip prize package or being selected as a finalist for the cash drawing will be determined by the number of eligible entries submitted to the Lottery. The Wheel of Fortune “ENTRY” ticket drawing prize winners will be determined at a public drawing according to SDCL Chapter 42-7A, ARSD Title 48, and these drawing rules. II. Statement of Prizes A. Wheel of Fortune Hollywood Trip Packages: i. Roundtrip coach airfare for up to four people from any airport in South Dakota served by two major airline carriers to Los Angeles, CA on a major airline; ii. Ground transfers between airport, hotel, studio, various Hollywood/Los Angeles area attractions and hosted events; iii. Accommodations of up to two deluxe hotel rooms for four nights; iv. One thousand dollars ($1,000) spending money for the prizewinner; v. Up to four tickets to the Wheel of Fortune stage at Sony Pictures Studios; vi. Trip dates are arrive Tuesday, April 17 and depart on April 21, 2012. vii. While in Hollywood, prizewinners from all participating state lotteries will have the chance to spin the Wheel of Fortune wheel one time to win a cash prize ranging from $300 to $10,000 (“Wheel Spin”). Prizewinners from all participating state lotteries will then be divided into ten groups (Show Groups) from which three prizewinners from each Show Group will be randomly selected to participate in a non-broadcast game of Wheel of Fortune with Pat Sajak and Vanna White (“Experience Game”). Each game participant will have the opportunity to win cash and vehicle prizes. As part of an Experience Game bonus round, game participants may have the chance to win up to $1 million as a prize if the million dollar prize has been qualified during regular game play to be added to the bonus round. Following the Experience Games on each production day, a special $1 million bonus spin-off event (the “Million Dollar Bonus Wheel Spin-Off”) will occur. A random drawing will be conducted among all prizewinners from each Show Group to select one prizewinner from each Show Group to become a contestant in the Million Dollar Bonus Wheel Spin-Off. Contestants will spin the Wheel of Fortune Bonus Wheel in Round One for a chance to advance to Round Two. Those who advance to Round Two will spin the Bonus Wheel for a chance to win up to $1 million. Spin-off contestants are guaranteed to win a minimum prize of $5,000 with the potential to win up to $1 million. viii.The trip package does not include: mileage, insurance, gratuities, meals, parking fees, baggage fees, alcoholic beverages, personal expenses such as telephone calls, valet service, laundry, revision or cancellation fees that may be charged by the hotel or other suppliers, or items not expressly specified. • Must be 18 to play. Finalist Selection Drawing: One entry will be selected to be included in a multi-state drawing of winners from participating lotteries to win a cash prize from $50,000 to $1 million. • Overall odds of winning a cash prize 1:4.11 C. Cash Prize Drawing: Cash prize from $50,000 to $1 million, with final prize value determined by random drawing. • Top prize odds are 1:120,000 • Overall odds of winning an entry 1:15 III. Prize Package Value Estimates and Tax Withholding A. Wheel of Fortune Hollywood Trip Package: The estimated value of the travel (airfare, hotel accommodations, ground transportation) is $12,500 and includes state and federal tax withholding. Any cash prize won by a trip winner during the Experience Game is in addition to the travel value and is subject to applicable state and federal taxes. B. Finalist Selection Drawing: Inclusion in a multi-state drawing consisting of like winners from participating lotteries. There is no monetary value. August 2011 Continued on back side Continued from front C. Cash Prize Drawing: Value of the final cash prize between $50,000 and $1 million will be determined by random drawing. Federal and state taxes will be withheld from the cash prize and a W-2G IRS form shall be provided to the winner and copied to the South Dakota Lottery. D. Prize winners will be responsible for any additional tax liability beyond the required state and federal withholding amounts. IV. Drawing Entry A. Entry form is any South Dakota $5 Wheel of Fortune ticket (game #407) on which the word “ENTRY” has been revealed under the scratch surface. B. The back of the “ENTRY” ticket must be completed in the spaces provided and include legible name, address, telephone number and signature. C. Entries can be mailed by inserting the ticket into an envelope, adding the appropriate postage, and addressing the envelope to the South Dakota Lottery Wheel of Fortune, P.O. Box 7107, Pierre, SD 57501-7107. Entries will be removed from the envelope to be entered in the drawings. D. Entries may also be presented in person at any of the three Lottery validation centers at the following locations: (Pierre) 711 E. Wells Avenue; (Rapid City) 107B New York Street; and (Sioux Falls) 3824 S. Western Avenue. V. Entry Eligibility A. The Wheel of Fortune game ticket must be an “ENTRY” ticket. B. Persons entering the drawing must be 18 years of age or older. C. The back of the ticket must be completed in the spaces provided and include legible name, address, telephone number and signature. D. Prize winners must have a current, valid credit card or shall be required to post cash deposit pursuant to hotel rules for handling personal incidental expenses. E. Entries are specifically ineligible if the name, address or phone number of the entrant on the entry form is incomplete or cannot be read by the Drawing Security Officer or his designee, or the Lottery is unable to determine the owner of the entry. F. A person may win more than one drawing in the promotion. For example, a trip winner will be eligible to become a finalist for the cash prize drawing. VI. Entry Deadline A. Wheel of Fortune Hollywood Trip Package: Entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. CT, Feb. 9, 2012. All entries not selected to win a trip package will automatically be entered into the drawing to select the finalist for the cash prize drawing. B. Finalist Selection Drawing: Entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. CT, Aug. 17, 2012. C. Cash Prize Drawing: Entries are selected solely in the Finalist Selection Drawing. No other entries will be included. VII. Drawing Dates, Times and Locations A. Wheel of Fortune Hollywood Trip Package Drawing: 10:00 a.m. CT, Feb. 15, 2012 at the Pierre Lottery office, 711 E. Wells Avenue, Pierre, SD. B. Finalist Selection Drawing: 10:00 a.m. CT, Aug. 23, 2012 at the Pierre Lottery office, 711 E. Wells Avenue, Pierre, SD. C. Cash Prize Drawing: On Sept. 17, 2012 at the offices of MDI Entertainment LLC, at 1500 Bluegrass Lakes Parkway, Alpharetta, GA. D. The executive director of the South Dakota Lottery has the discretion to change the date, time and location of the drawings. VIII. Winner Contact and Prize Claim A. Wheel of Fortune Hollywood Trip Package Winners: i. The Lottery will make all reasonable efforts to notify the winners of their prizes. After all reasonable efforts have been made, the Lottery may determine that the prize cannot be awarded to a winner. In such a case, the prize shall be awarded to the first alternate, and if the prize cannot be awarded to the first alternate, the prize shall be awarded to the next sequential alternate. ii. If a winner is unable to claim the prize for any reason, the prize shall be awarded to the first alternate, and if the first alternate is unable to claim the prize for any reason, the prize shall be awarded to the next sequential alternate. iii. Prize winners must complete the Lottery prize claim form. iv. If a winner owes the State of South Dakota money pursuant to SDCL 42-7A-52, the winner has 30 days from the time the Lottery notifies the winner to settle his or her debt to the State. If the debt is not settled within 30 days, the prize will be awarded to the first alternate or the next sequential alternate, subject to the same requirements. v. The winner’s names will be submitted to MDI Entertainment LLC for prize fulfillment following the receipt of the prize claim form and official prize award by the South Dakota Lottery. B. Finalist Selection Drawing Winners: i. The Lottery will make all reasonable efforts to notify the drawing winner of their selection as a finalist to be included in the Cash Prize Drawing. ii. No prize claim form is necessary. C. Cash Prize Drawing Winners: i. If the South Dakota finalist entry is drawn in the Cash Prize Drawing, the Lottery will make all reasonable efforts to notify the winner of their prize. After all reasonable efforts have been made, the Lottery may determine that the prize cannot be awarded to a winner. In such a case, the Lottery shall notify MDI Entertainment LLC so that an alternate winner can be awarded the prize. ii. If the South Dakota finalist entry is drawn in the Cash Prize Drawing, the prize winner must complete the Lottery prize claim form. iii. If the winner is unable to claim the prize for any reason, the Lottery shall notify MDI Entertainment LLC so that an alternate winner can be awarded the prize. iv. If a winner owes the State of South Dakota money pursuant to SDCL 42-7A-52, the debt owed will be deducted from the prize winnings and paid to the State to settle the debt. MDI Entertainment LLC will then award the remainder of the prize amount to the winner.
