Issue 6 Newsletter of the Ivy Community Partnership Covering: Charter Road, Field View and Royal Close, Chippenham The People have spoken—now its time for action! The Ivy Listening event on Saturday 11th April saw many of you join in to enjoy the open space, socialise and talk to us about your priorities for this area. You should have received your Feedback report from the event—this report explains what everyone said and how we are going to deal with the issues you have raised. As with everything the Ivy Partnership does, the action will need to be community-led. We know that real change doesn’t happen without residents in the driving seat so we really need YOU to feed in your ideas and get involved in action on the things that matter to you. Everyone wants to belong to a strong community but we need everyone’s help to build it! As the report says, lots has been done, but there’s more to do! So, if you haven’t yet signed up to get involved in one of the Focus Groups, please chose one that your most interested in and give us your details so we can contact you. We will meet up at the Ivy Hub at 21 Royal Close to chat through the issues and agree what action we can take. We already have a date for the Children and Families group—see overleaf. To join a focus group, simply complete the reply slip on your Feedback Report and drop it back to The Hub, 21 Royal Cl. The Ivy Hub—your local community space! You may have heard that the Ivy Partnership has been working with Sovereign Housing to get an empty flat at 21 Royal Close converted into a temporary space for community meetings and activities. We’re pleased to say this has now been agreed and we now have a great local space for community meetings and activities. We want to know what activities and groups you would like to see developed. Please contact the Hub on 01249 659472 or visit us on Facebook. Look out for the new programme on local noticeboards! www.ivyvoice.net [email protected] /ivypartnership How does your garden grow? KEEP IN TOUCH Local Housing Associations: Residents working on the Ivy wildlife garden carried out a consultation at the Listening event to plan how the garden Sovereign: 0845 7125530 will develop. The project was created by local residents, Area Housing Officer: Tom Rees. Tel: 01635 277444 supported by GreenSquare and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and is now a favourite for residents and wildlife alike! The consultation showed that there was support for more seating around the garden and for extending the garden into the adjoining areas which had been left to become overgrown. Sovereign is now also supporting this project and is identifying areas that can be gardened. For any comments or suggestions about the garden, please contact Diane Warren on 01249 465465. Poetic information for users of the garden The garden is here for one and all; whether you’re short or whether you’re tall. To protect the wildlife is our main concern; so please, no barbecues, alcohol or fires that burn. The paths are for people and wildlife to share; so stay on the paths, which have been marked clear. The flowers are here for us all to enjoy; the birds and the insects will give you great joy. The garden and wildlife deserve our respect; so come and just sit, have a cuppa and chat. If you want to donate, your time would be good; seeds, plants are welcome, as well as bird food. No one likes litter, so use the bin that is clear; or take it back home and dispose of it there. When walking your dog, please keep on a lead; and if your dog messes, just clear up the deed! Residents have created this garden, this space! So come one and all, put a smile on your face!
