Kick cabin fever to the curb and join the Westerville Visitors & Convention
Bureau for Mount Carmel St. Ann’s 4th Friday: Uptown Alive, Friday, April 24,
2015 from 6-9pm in Uptown Westerville.
Uptown Alive! Is the first of six community block parties held each year in Westerville’s Uptown District on
the fourth Friday of each month, April through September.
Visitors and residents alike will enjoy browsing the wares of the Uptown merchants and more than 100
street vendors, grabbing a bite in an Uptown restaurant or from one of the many food trucks and listening
to live music throughout the evening.
“We look for something new to offer each year,” said WVCB Executive Director Jeff Hartnell. “We’re
delighted to offer an additional vendor and performance area this year in the parking lot along E. Home St.,
next to the Columbus Running Company.”
Hartnell said the new space will allow audiences more space to enjoy groups like ProFencing, Leap of
Faith Dance Company and The Academy Irish Dance Co throughout the season. He said there will also be
additions to the street-food line-up, including melts, soup, rib tips and loaded fries, plus healthy offerings
from the Kinetic Food Truck and Red Plate Blue Plate. The Schmidt’s Sausage Truck will roll into Uptown
for the first time as well.
The Westerville Puppet Posse will be back to entertain the kids. The Westerville Public Library will offer
story times at Amish Originals Furniture, 38 N. State St., from 6:30-8:30pm. The Westerville Visitors &
Convention Bureau Kids Corner will be back on E. College Ave. featuring a Velcro© Sticky Wall and a
bounce house, sponsored by Heartland Bank.
Change It Up Charlie will play old favorites in a new way on the AAA Ohio Auto Club Music Stage at State
and Home Streets; Guitarist Jim Volk will share his talents on the Arts Council of Westerville Music Stage
in front of City Hall, 21 S. State St.; and in Arts Alley, Ian Gall with entertain with originals and covers.
Fred Astaire Dance Studio will take audience participation to a new level with free line-dancing lessons at
6:30 and 8:30pm in the Mix 107.9 Performance Pavilion next to the Visitors Bureau at 20 W. Main St.
ProFencing students will show their skills in a fencing dual at 7pm and Trisha Moore from the Mix 107.9
Morning Show will give folks a chance to spin the Famous Mix Prize Wheel to win fun stuff just in time for
spring.
Dancers from Generations Performing Arts Center will perform from 6-7:30pm on W. College Ave. and on
E. College Janice Dougall will lead a 60’s sing-along in the St. Matthew’s Gazebo.
Again this year, attendees are encouraged to ride their bikes and leave them in a free, secure bike corral
on W. Main Street provided by the Westerville Bicycle Club. The corral is located behind The Middlefield
Banking Company.
Chapel on the Vine is teaming up with Bike Source to a Baby Boomers Only raffle on Home St., giving
away two bikes during the evening. Those too young for that raffle can try their hand at guessing how
many Hershey Kisses are in a jar.
Seating for the evening will be provided by Westerville Caring and Sharing and the Westerville Area
Resource Ministry.
Mount Carmel St. Ann’s 4th Fridays are sponsored by the WVCB and supported by the City of Westerville,
Arts Council of Westerville, Westerville Public Library, Heartland Bank and AAA Ohio Auto Club
