How to Coordinate Defence / attack © The Jedi Academy Alliance - GoFA Coordination Due to the nature of battle coordination, this document will only cover the basic theory, you will learn more about this subject during battle training missions. In this document - Battle comms - Adjusting carrier speed © The Jedi Academy Alliance - GoFA Coordination Communication Good coordination during times of battle is key to an effective defence or attack. The Jedi alliances use Line to coordinate as this app is quicker at delivering messages, another essential feature of Line is that battle reports can be shared as screen-captures, this allows better gathering of intelligence like aggressor numbers and composition of enemy fleets. The gathering of intel is vital as it allows us to gather our fleets and ensure we have enough firepower to minimise losses, if we loose a planet to a 100 carrier attack, we will then gather 400 carriers to take it back. © The Jedi Academy Alliance - GoFA Coordination Communication To coordinate effectively we minimise chatter and use battle chat shorthand, this allows us to get the message across without having to type long messages, which take up a lot of room in the chat window which in turn reduces the amount of info that anyone can see at a glance. In the Academies we run battle training missions, during the run-up to these missions we will familiarise you with Battle chat shorthand, you will learn to understand messages like, “23Mk3 5750Ships 600K Troops sent U1 eta 1h17m” which replaces “I have sent 23Mk3 carriers with 5750 ships and 600k troops to Umbight1 with travel time 1hour 17 minutes” As you can see this reduces the time to type and the space taken up in the chat. © The Jedi Academy Alliance - GoFA Coordination Communication During defence scenarios, one member will take the role of battle commander, this is usually either the owner of the planet being attacked or the most battle experienced member, in the case of attacks it will be the most battle experienced, they will decide on a gathering point close to the target planet and they will also give orders on who sends what and where, to make this easier they usually keep a notepad by their side, making notes to keep track of carrier and troop numbers. In conflicts that look like they will continue for some time we will set up a separate Battle chat for those involved this makes sure the Battle chat doesn't get interrupted and keeps the alliance chats free for other chat. © The Jedi Academy Alliance - GoFA Coordination Adjusting carrier speed During attacks it is key to the success of the attack that all carriers arrive at the target planet during the gathering window. When all your carriers have arrived at the gathering point, check the travel time to the target for each type of carrier and let your battle commander know the travel time for your slowest carrier, they can then coordinate the attack allowing for this, you will need to adjust the speed of some of your faster carriers to make sure they arrive at the same time as the slower ones, when sending your carriers on their attack run, start with the slowest then the 2nd slowest and so on, leaving the fastest until last. Different carrier types travel at different speeds. Mk1 basic speed 1000 FS Mk2 basic speed 1500 FS Mk3 basic speed 1250 FS I have noted the basic speed but the speed of carriers boosted with yellow artifacts can be significantly higher eg. Mk3 yellow lvl20 speed 2250 FS © The Jedi Academy Alliance - GoFA Coordination Adjusting carrier speed The speed of your fast carriers can be adjusted so that they arrive at the same time as the slower carriers, in the screen-captures below I have the same carrier set at 100% and 62% speed, note the server times, the first was sent at 15:05:45 the second at 15:20:12 but they are both due to arrive at 15:43:48 © The Jedi Academy Alliance - GoFA Coordination As you can see, coordination during battle can be quite demanding, this is why the most experienced members take the role of battle commander. During the academy training missions you will see how coordination is done and maybe get a chance of taking control yourself. We look forward to you taking part in the training missions. © The Jedi Academy Alliance - GoFA May the force be with you © The Jedi Academy Alliance - GoFA
