Provide assistance in the capturing and recording of many of the
day-to-day financial functions and activities of MTS Iceplex, TN
Hockey (AHL Team), Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation and
some aspects for MTS Centre and Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club.
Assist with tracking and reporting annual capital asset initiatives.
Detailed Responsibilities:
MTS Iceplex, TN Hockey, Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation
 Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable/cash
receipts, certain element of purchasing, -- for all operating
facets of MTS Iceplex (ice rentals, camps, clinics, highperformance training, adult league, food & beverage), TN
Hockey (tickets, sponsorship, hockey operations), and
Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation (50/50, fundraising
events, Winnipeg Jets hockey academy, Camp Manitou) -ensuring timely and accurate capture of daily transactions.
 Participate in cash management of the operations.
 Performance of monthly and other periodic reconciliations /
supporting schedules – commensurate with monthly
financial statement preparation. ie. Performing
reasonableness review of all income statement accounts.
 Departmental reporting to assist other functional areas in
managing and controlling financial activity.
 Assist in preparation of relevant filings to Federal, Provincial
& Civic authorities (GST, PST, Payroll tax, property tax); and
working papers to tax-preparers.
 Serve as a business consultant for self-programming
activity, budgeting, and other MTS Iceplex initiatives.
 Observe, refine, make suggestions and implement business
systems that improve internal controls, efficiency, simplicity,
and operating/ financial performance.

Assist in preparation of audit and be main contact for
auditors during the audit period.
MTS Centre, Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club
 Oversee some aspects of MTS Centre and Winnipeg Jets
Hockey Club.
 Manage monthly capital expenditure reporting including
updating costs spent to date on each project, updating
forecasted costs to complete and working with Project &
Building Standards Manager on costs for larger projects.
 Assist with capital asset project, including working with
various departments on software selection and updating the
software for historical capital assets purchased.
 Assist with reporting and capturing foreign exchange and
foreign exchange hedging strategies, including preparation
of quarterly reporting, monthly mark to market entries,
ongoing transactions.

 Professional Accounting Designation and/or significant
business experience.
 Preference give to those with industry (sport, entertainment
and/or facility management) experience.
 Ability to lead, motivate and mentor staff.
 Proven-ability to prioritize competing demands in a diverse
and evolving environment.
 Superior skills in the use of pc-based tools (accounting
software and the Microsoft Office suite of products).
 Responsible team member, with capacity to meet objectives
and required timelines.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate:
a) Has the experience, capacity, and self-initiative to “hit the
ground running” after a 2-4 week orientation.
b) Will work and be based at the Powerhouse office, and work
out of MTS Iceplex as required.
