Message From the
President
Volunteers
Needed for
60 Year
Anniversary
Dear Friends of AccessAbility:
Spring of 2008 -- an exciting time for AccessAbility! This year we celebrate 60 years of serving our
community. In addition to celebrating our diamond
anniversary, we are also beginning plans to expand
and renovate our facility to better prepare us to continue our mission for many years to come.
page 3
Barbara Arnold,
President
I recently had someone tell me that it was quite an accomplishment for any
organization to survive 60 years. She asked, "What is the secret formula?" My answer, there's no secret at all. It is simply the sum of a truly
powerful mission, a dedicated hard working community, and the commitment to continually change and adjust to community needs.
Our mission to provide opportunities for self sufficiency for people with barriers to employment and community inclusion is as strong as ever .In fact, it
is even more in demand during the current economic times. AccessAbility
has waiting lists of individuals in desperate need of our services. Our number one priority is to find more work opportunities for people.
AccessAbility's staff is top of the line. Dedicated individuals like Susan, our
employee of the year, are committed to making a difference in the lives of
individuals. Our Board, volunteers and supporters understand the important
role we play in our community and work hard to help our efforts.
Change is constant and is a way of life at AccessAbility. No two days are
the same. Individual needs, business needs, and community needs
change. It is the ability to adapt, create new opportunities, and remain mission centered in all that we do.
We thank you for your support and hope to see you at our events this
year.
Happy spring.
Celebrate Northeast Minneapolis
and Celebrate AccessAbility!
In honor of our 60th Anniversary, what says celebration better
than a parade. For the 4th consecutive year, AccessAbility, Inc.,
will be entering a float in the 79th annual Celebrate Northeast
Minneapolis Parade. The parade is on June 24, 2008 at 6:30p.m.
in the evening and runs down Central Avenue from 28th street
to 14th street. Our theme this year, in honor of our 60th
"Diamond" anniversary is "Puttin' on the Glitz". In our second
year entering the parade in 2006, we received the highest honor
for all parade entrants, the Grand Champion Award. We are
striving for a repeat performance this year and are in the planning process for this event to make it another memorable evening. If you are interested in helping or participating in the parade, please feel free to call (612) 331-5958.
It is AccessAbility’s 60th Anniversary of serving the community! To celebrate, we are planning a “grand gala” in September with the theme “Dancing
through the Decades”. The
event is in the beginning stages
of planning and we are in need
of volunteers for several committees: Silent Auction, Logistics, PR/Marketing and Sales.
Please contact Joan Marso for
more information at 612-8521811.
